Winter Assessments... Just a quick reminder that this is the time of year when we typically do many district wide and building wide assessments of each student. Our three main assessments, DIBELS, SRI, and Delta Math are done each year in September, January, and May. This means that we will be assessing the students on at least one if not most of these assessments. Most students take these assessments with us as provided through their IEPs. Additionally, we usually complete another running record on each student during this time. We anticipate completing running records on students sometime in mid to late January. We will send home goal progress reports this month or early February including information on each child’s IEP goals and their individual progress. Please let us know if you have any questions! Thanks!

What’s New in Resource Room?

Coming back to school after two weeks off is not always easy, but we had great transition back this week. We jumped off the New Year brainstorming and writing about our resolutions for 2012. Starting fresh in 2012 we also spent time reviewing students behavior during read to self, read to someone, and listen to reading. The students built stamina during read to self and showed great progress over the week! A student who was previously at Bentheim and in our classroom has returned. The students are glad to see him, and we are excited to welcome him back to our room! Also, the fresh snow on the ground has finally given way to a winter feeling! Students are enjoying spending time outside playing in the snow, so please remember to send along appropriate gear to keep them warm. We hope you are having a great start to the New Year!
