Schools add value THE proximity of schools to a property can play an important factor in its resale value, according to Caporn Young Estate Agents principal Richard Young. “If you are considering buying a new house it is worthwhile to investigate social infrastructure facilities such as schools,” he said. Mr Young said most people did not realise that a school, particularly those with a good local reputation, could help to enhance the overall value and rental prices of homes in local suburbs. “The annual TEE results underline the importance of schools when considering investing in real estate,” he said. “It is no coincidence that a number of the state schools which achieved very high TEE results are located in suburbs where property values have recorded strong levels of capital growth over recent years. “For example, in Rossmoyne house prices have risen strongly over the past decade. “The fact that Rossmoyne has one of the best achieving state schools in WA is a major factor in making the suburb very attractive to families. “Other suburbs which have highly regarded state schools such as Leeming and Churchlands have also benefited from this important attraction.” ■
