A new chapter in educational infrastructure has begun in Wayne County, where Triway Local Schools has completed construction of its 250,000-square-foot, pre-K through 12th grade campus, known as One Triway. Built on the site of the school district’s former high school and middle school, the new facility goes beyond simply consolidating aging buildings. It also exemplifies how integrated mechanical systems can enhance the learning environment. Completed in late 2024, the One Triway campus replaces outdated facilities that once struggled with poor climate control and inflexible layouts. Designed with the future in mind, the school building incorporates advanced HVAC systems to create adaptable, comfortable and energy-efficient spaces critical for student well-being and academic performance. The design and engineering team – led by GPD Engineering and supported by Air Control Products – faced the challenge of creating a zoning and ventilation strategy that accommodates a wide range of needs, from classrooms to gymnasiums and administrative offices. Acoustic comfort, fresh air circulation and temperature control were all central to the mechanical design process. HVAC components installed by The K Company include dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) by Greenheck, terminal units by Price, ducted distribution and strategically placed electric heaters by Markel. Airius destratification fans further support air movement and thermal consistency, especially in large, open areas. The facility functions as three distinct, twostory academic zones segmented by grade levels: kindergarten through fifth, sixth through eighth, and ninth through 12th. Despite the scale, the school building operates with cohesive mechanical systems, fine-tuned for energy efficiency and user comfort.
