When Armada, a Pittsburgh-based logistics company, relocated its headquarters recently, it marked a meaningful shift toward a more connected, inoffice culture. The design of the approximately 68,000-square-foot fit-out, completed in May 2026, reflects that transformation, with interiors carefully crafted to support collaboration, flexibility and a strong sense of identity. Working closely with Armada, architecture firm Desmone led a comprehensive visioning process that included leadership workshops, employee engagement sessions and a company-wide survey. These efforts helped uncover key insights into how teams operate and what employees value most in their workplace environment. The resulting design balances open environments with a variety of spaces for focus, teamwork and informal interaction. Flexible work areas, diverse furniture solutions and multiple conference room types empower employees to choose how and where they work, creating a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Interior materiality plays a central role in achieving a cohesive design. The palette features sophisticated jewel-toned accents, including rich navy, forest green and gold, paired with lighter field colors for balance. Navy carpet is paired with a coordinating exposed ceiling, creating intuitive wayfinding and breaking down large workstation areas into more intimate neighborhoods. A combination of carpet tile and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring is strategically used to define circulation paths and activity zones. Focus rooms employ color-blocking across flooring, wall paint and decorative pendant lighting to create immersive environments. Reinforcing a hospitality-inspired aesthetic, hospitality bars and the multi-purpose café are elevated with quartz countertops and tile backsplashes. A standout feature is the custom shipping container collaboration space, inspired by Armada’s logistics roots. Complete with branded “Armada” padlocks, it serves as both a gathering area and symbolic centerpiece. Nearby, a curated awards display and a large-scale digital “Trucks in Transit” wall reinforce the company’s industry presence and ongoing growth. Designed to serve as a physical expression of Armada’s culture, the completed headquarters aims to foster connection, celebrate accomplishments and support continued growth while providing employees with a welcoming and highly functional environment. –Properties Staff 54
