This piece was made in commemoration of the 30th year anniversary of the Happy Meal. This piece is a basic play on the branding of the Happy Meal. For many years the Happy Meal, with its red box and yellow smile, has been a staple promotional tool for McDonalds to sell fast food to children. I have inverted the smile, producing a frown with the intent of drawing attention to the unhealthy nature of this food that is being marketed to our children, which has only increased through the years.
Do NOT Put Babies In Bags A multivocal piece representing the immediate and long term threats that plastic has to our children; the most obvious being the danger of suffocation. Recently there have been numerous recalls of toxic plastic children’s toys and we are just beginning to see the long term effect on the environment due to the disposal of our discarded plastic items, an environmental challenge our children and grandchildren will be left to deal with.
Toxicity This piece was made in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Cabbage Patch Kids. There have been many recalls over the past few years for toys that contain toxic chemicals. By placing this doll in a gas mask I have made a reference to how toxic toys can be. They are toxic not just from the chemicals, but from the rampant consumerism that has taken over the toy industry. The Cabbage Patch Kids were one of the first toys to cause riots during Christmas and over the years this has became a growing trend in the toy industry.

June 12, 2009 Death of the rabbit ears A humorous play on the death of analog broadcast TV
which had a switch off date of June 12, 2009. The dead rabbit ears hearken back to the slang terminology used to refer to TV antenna. This enforced government regulation has a far reaching impact on the environment as people opt to dispose of functioning televisions in favor of newer models.
Electronic vivisection I am playing off of the concept of animal vivisection. A subject that is normally gruesome and cruel being spun on its head as odd and laughable, and at the same time pointing out the fact that this is still a reality within the institute of animal testing. Push the buttons and watch them suffer.
