My husband and I moved to Rancho Murrieta in 1985 and shortly after we were told about the Bingo Hall in Jackson. As luck will have it, Art won half of the first Bingo there! We went to Tahoe often and were hoping that some day Jackson would have machines put in…lo and behold, my prayers were answered. Two machines showed up in the back of the Bingo room where I was lucky enough to meet a charming and lovely woman named Margaret Dalton. She & I talked a lot and played those two machines together. Then came more machines and Margaret & I were in our glory! A Poker Room opened so Art and I tried our

luck there. We have played in every Poker Room (about seven different venues so far) at Jackson Rancheria and have enjoyed it so much. Art and I play the weekly tournaments and enjoy it. I then go to my favorite machines and play those for hours at a time. Rich Hoffman’s TV commercials are both informative and funny. Keep up the great work Rich! The highlight of our week is the day we wake up at 7 a.m. and head for Jackson to spend the day there as we have for 25 years now. Jackson Rancheria has grown into a friendly and beautiful casino which wev hope to enjoy for many years to come.

Homemade P.nut Butter Cups Cindy Defeyter of Mountain Ranch I make these P.nut Butter Cups and other candy cups for my family, friends, neighbors, the grocery store where I shop, my mechanic, the bank, and others. MSTW presents ‘A Servant of Two Masters’ Main Street Theatre Works presents “A Servant of Two Masters” opening Friday, August 6. A cross between traditional Italian commedia and postmodern vaudeville, this new version of Carol Goldoni’s classic pits the madcap servant Truffaldino against masters, mistresses, lovers, lawyers, and 27 plates of meatballs. Imagine a Bob Hope or Woody Allen comedy written by Monty Python and performed with the physical bravura of Chaplin or Keaton - with places in the script for ad-libs and audience participation. If last season’s surprise hit “Around the World in 80 Days” was your cup of tea, then

don’t miss “The Servant of Two Masters.” Performances are at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson on Fridays and Saturdays August 6 through September 4. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for picnicking and the show starts at 8 p.m. G e n e r a l admission tickets are $17.50, $12 for students 18 and under. A family pack of two general admission and two students is available for $49. Suggested items to bring include a picnic dinner, wine, jacket (for cool summer evenings), blanket, low-back chair, and mosquito repellant. For more information and tickets, visit mstw.org.

Visit ‘Plaza Suite’ at the Volcano Amphitheatre

The Volcano Theater Company will present Neil Simon’s popular “Plaza Suite” at the Volcano Amphitheater starting Friday, August 13. The walls have ears. Suite 719 in New York’s Plaza Hotel has stories to tell. Three couples, three interludes, three slices of life. Hilarious! (If you are the walls).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for picnicking and the show starts at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from August 13 through September 11. No Sunday matinees. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors 62 and over, and $10 for students under 18. For tickets and more information visit volcanotheatre. org.

Celebrating 25 Years

The RV Park front desk staff includes, from left, David Mullins, Michelle Somers-Ault, Supervisor Jolene Pimentel, Candy Tamantini, and Alicia Fulton.

Meet Our Friendly RV Park Staff

Jackson Rancheria’s RV Park is Northern California’s highest rated RV park, and undoubtedly the most beautiful, but it is the staff who truly turn every visit into a Rancheria Style® experience. The front desk staff goes out of their way to make sure all reservations are handled correctly and everyone has a great time once they arrive. Jolene Pimentel is the supervisor. She’s worked at Jackson Rancheria for over six years, starting out doing banquets at the Hotel, then transferring to the RV Park when it opened two years ago. She says working in the park is very different from doing banquets at the Hotel. “It’s just so relaxing here. Everyone’s on vacation so they’re usually happy. I love the interaction with the JACKSON RANCHERIA CASINO & HOTEL

guests, and my great bosses,” she adds. Candy Tamantini took reservations and worked the front desk at the Hotel before transferring to the RV Park. “We are such a close working team,” she says, “always laughing and making work time so pleasant. We work together but we are more like a family, including our regular guests who come in all the time.” She also enjoys meeting people from different parts of the world. “I’ve met people here from Germany, Switzerland, and Australia.” Michelle Somers-Ault worked in the Wardrobe department for over five years before transferring to the RV Park. “I have enjoyed working here more than any other job I’ve ever had,” she says. “It is a great company to work for and I have met a lot of great people. I love hearing all the stores from guests about their travels.” Her son Tyler also works here, at the

11

Raging River Restaurant. Alicia Fulton joined the park staff two years ago and says what she enjoys most about working here is “the people I work with and the great atmosphere.” “I come to work looking forward to working one on one with the guests I may meet that day,” says David Mullins, “the stories they have to tell and the smiles on their faces. They love this place and I love working here.” David worked as a Cook and Cashier in both the Food Court and Lone Wolf ’s Steakhouse before moving to the RV Park a year ago. Another member of the front desk staff is Erynn Burkholter, who is currently out on maternity leave following the birth of her son. Park Manager Josh Bingham notes that the maintenance staff are also “major contributors to our success.” They keep the See RV Park staff, page 15 THE ARROW • AUGUST 2010

Celebrating 25 Years

C.G. DiArie Winery offers a ‘Mecca of Zinfandelegance’ Billing itself as a “Mecca of Zinfandelegance,” C.G. DiArie produces small lots of bold, elegant, award-winning wines reflecting an impressive blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and cutting-edge technology. An example is the highly regarded Southern Exposure Zinfandel, made from Amador’s original Grandpere Vineyard, which contains the oldest Zinfandel vines in the U.S. Owner and winemaker Chaim Gur-Arieh took an unusual route to making wine, involving Cap’n Crunch cereal and Pudding Cups. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Chaim immigrated to Israel as a teenager. After completing his military service as an officer in a tank division, he studied at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. Soon after, Chaim moved to the United States to continue his education at the University of Illinois where he earned a Masters and Ph.D. in Food Science with minors in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering. Chaim then joined the Quaker Oats company where he helped develop the breakfast cereal Cap’n Crunch. He moved to California to become Director of New Products at Del Monte Corporation where he created an array of new products including Pudding Cups, Gel Cups, Yogurt Cups, etc. JACKSON RANCHERIA CASINO & HOTEL

In 1974 he married Elisheva and founded Food Development Corporation, where he developed numerous new products including Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing, Power Bars and Wine Coolers. In 1980, he merged Food Development Corporation with California Brands Flavors, his newly created flavor company. Over the next 18 years Chaim transformed California Brands Flavors into a major West Coast flavor company where he created a database of 5,000 flavors for the food industry. In 1998, Chaim and Elisheva sold their flavor

company and went on to pursue their life-long dream of creating world class wines. In his new role as Winemaker, Chaim developed his innovative Dual Compartment Submerged Cap Fermentation Tank (patent pending) which he uses to craft his
