Thursday seminars include a variety of topics including antimicrobial use, diabetes management, bovine diagnostic updates, avian influenza, and many others. In addition, there is Missouri Stocker/Feeder Quality Assurance and BQA Certification, as well as, the MVMA Academy Mini-Topics Seminar packed with short, informative presentations on a variety of subjects.

This year’s Vet Team Elevate track comes at a perfect time as the updated Missouri supervision standards for RVTs took effect on April 30, 2025. These amendments, developed collaboratively by the MVMA RVT Utilization Task Force, MOVTA, and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board, expand the levels of supervision in the MO Veterinary Practice Act and encourage a better utilization of RVTs in a practice. Our Vet Team Elevate track will highlight these changes and help teams understand how expanded supervision levels can enhance workflow, improve efficiency, and elevate the role of RVTs in a practice.

Make sure to stay afterwards for the Veterinary Technician and Practice Staff Reception from 4:30-6:00 pm! It’s a great opportunity to connect and unwind after a full educational day.

Discussion of small animal dentistry instruments for use in general practice to promote better extractions. We will also cover how to use instruments to reduce fatigue and speed up the procedure. Instrument care, including sharpening, will also be discussed.

Small Animal Dentistry Instrument Hands-On Dry Lab

This dry lab will allow veterinarians and veterinary technicians to learn how to find the right instruments to fit their hands by handling a variety of instruments. Attendees will also be assisted in how to properly hold and use the instruments for best function and less fatigue. Participants will also learn how and when to sharpen instruments so they work more efficiently.

Sunday, February 1 (Students can audit labs with maximum participation)

8:00-8:50 am • Avian Influenza Lab • Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture • This lab will give hands on training on how to collect Avian Influenza oropharyngeal samples from live chickens. 8:00-11:50 am • Calf Nx Lab • Held at the MU VMDL Necropsy Floor. Maximum of 15 DVM participants• Looking to build confidence and skill in field necropsies? Don’t miss this unique, hands-on opportunity at the 2026 MVMA Convention! Participants will observe a full necropsy demo and then break into small groups for guided practice with recently submitted calves. You’ll walk away with valuable experience in postmortem techniques and sample collection that can immediately improve your on-farm diagnostics. This lab will take place at the MU VMDL Necropsy Floor.
