This, to us was the "grand Finale" to a process that started almost 2 years earlier. I found Eamonn O’Gorman via an online recommendation. I was in Calgary on my own, as my husband was still overseas - Eamonn was there to help me out with all aspects of my purchase. From our first meeting, Eamonn was a consummate professional and when he found out I had not yet secured mortgage financing, was able to recommend several mortgage consultants who were well versed in my type of situation one of whom I ended up going with, and who turned out to be a fantastic help in the entire process. He gave me the feeling that he was a thoroughly honest and straightforward guy. That, along with the fact that he was brave enough to put a huge picture of himself on the side of the Okotoks Dawgs baseball ground (if you do that, you are going to be well known in a small town like Okotoks and so you have to do a good job). We were very pleased with our home purchase experience using Eamonn. There was no pressure throughout the process, and we felt free to view as many houses as would be necessary. We even looked at some we thought we would not like, just to test our original assumptions about what it was we really wanted and the price bracket we had originally proposed. Eamonn’s answers to our numerous questions were always honest and complete and I think from that, I understand the market here in Canada much more than I did before the process. One of the key factors that attracted me from our first meeting was his approach, using the best of modern technology, whether that be advertising or his recommendations around using home inspectors trained and qualified to use thermal imaging cameras. This last piece gave us enormous peace of mind - being able to see the images while the home inspection was being done. Having given Eamonn a challenging list of our likes, don’t likes and a tight price bracket, we ended up with an excellent property we adore, that came in right on budget. Dennis & Lorraine...he does exactly what it says on the tin and I unreservedly recommend him to anyone Prior to our family flying out to Canada, Lorraine, my wife, had been scouring the internet for some time, looking for jobs, houses and places to live. She mentioned a website called British Expats and some chap called Eamonn O’Gorman, from Okotoks who she’d been talking to online about houses. Being something of a control freak, I went online and read all the blogs about him and what sort of service he said that he provided and on the strength of that, sent him an e-mail, as he seemed to be the sort of person that I like dealing with – honest, sincere and professional. Once we arrived in Okotoks, Eamonn began the “acclimatisation process” of taking us to all the essential places that new Permanent Residents need to visit; drivers’ licences, health cards etc. All this and he knew that we had no intention of buying a house for at least 6 months – truly a man of his word with regards to a no obligation service. Due to a bizarre set of circumstances, not least of which was the fact that we were due to be homeless in a fortnight, we handed Eamonn a bit of a monster task – to find us a home in 2 weeks that all the family would love. He took this in his stride and produced a viewing list from the dozens of potential houses that Lorraine sent him. At each property, he took careful notes, and listened to our comments and answered all our questions thoroughly. On our second day of viewing we found “the one” – we all knew straight away that this house was the place that we wanted to call home. Eamonn arranged a second viewing and when we confirmed that we wanted to put an offer in, he began the negotiation process that afternoon. From midday until just before midnight, he worked tirelessly between us and the sellers, making offers back and forth until he settled the deal at a considerable saving for us. Then, he arranged a mortgage broker to help us sort out our finances and seal the deal. I am now writing this in my new home – a place that I could never dream to own in the UK, thanks, in large part, to Eamonn and his modus operandi. Just like the advert, he does exactly what it says on the tin and I unreservedly recommend him to anyone coming out to Canada for his honesty, integrity, openness and the utter devotion he shows to his chosen profession.

Greg & Susie...Emphasis was placed on us and our needs...the process was so smooth Upon arriving in Calgary, we set up home in rental accommodation. As our first year came to an end we decided to look into buying our own house. We were referred to a REALTOR速 through my work but felt our new status in Canada led to the REALTOR速 telling us what we could and could not do and not taking time to understand our situation. From the first meeting, emphasis was placed on us and our needs, and an understanding of our financial situation involving funds and property in the UK. We moved to Okotoks from Manitoba....not a huge move, but for me, being a Manitoban for 15 years, it was a huge move. I was really lost when I got here, seeing how my husband jumped right into work (he previously lived in Calgary) and I was home alone with our daughter....in a strange new place! I went to a Facebook Group page and there I found Eamonn. He’s been a HUGE help! It’s funny because he’s not even originally from here! Eamonn is always right on top of things. Eamonn was at the airport to meet us and took us to our temporary accommodation, (the excellent High Cactus Ranch in De Winton, between Calgary and Okotoks). Eamonn had arranged the accommodation for us prior to our arrival and was helpful every step of the way. He gave us a cellphone to use until we bought one ourselves and showed us around Okotoks. He helped with our Alberta health cards, PR cards, SIN numbers, resumes and anything else we could think of! Eamonn has been and continues to be a star, and he has done all of this for us knowing we may not be in a position to buy a house here for longer than we first thought, due to the poor house price we sold for in the UK. This is something Eamonn knew before we left the UK and he still helped us in every way he could in our move and settling, all without any charge. When we do buy a house, there is no-one else we would trust or use other than Eamonn. He’s a genuine, nice guy who would help anyone and everyone, in any way he could, no questions asked. After a period of settling in, we began the process of house hunting. Originally, we had thought the chances of us owning our dream home had long gone with the price crash in the UK. Before moving out to Canada, we had researched REALTORS® and there. We then shortlisted the ones we liked and Eamonn made appointments to re-visit them so that we could really digest what we thought we liked/disliked. Nothing was too much trouble, any questions we had were either answered on the spot or we had an e-mail response that evening.

One house, we fell in love with, and have now bought, was a new build spec home. We really, really liked it but it was out of our price range and had already just been dropped in price by a huge amount, so we didn’t think the seller would drop it again. Eamonn engaged them in debate and with the negotiating skills of a genius he managed to get us the house we desperately wanted and another $20K knocked off the asking price, which made it affordable. From putting in our first offer, to moving in, was 10 days. Painless, tearless and no sleepless nights. We moved in and had a small disaster. The builders had accidentally cut through the internet/tv/phone cables when backfilling the house, which no one realised until we fired up our email. As I (Alison) work from home for UK clients, you can imagine my horror. I was mortified as this could do so much damage to my business. Fear not! Eamonn stepped in. Above and beyond the call of duty, he managed (to cut a long story short) to speak to the builders of the house next door, who spoke to the guy who had purchased that property and they agreed that I could use their cables until the builders can relay the cables to our home. Given it was going to take a few days to get this temporary solution in place, Eamonn then gave me the keys to his house so that I can work from his office, (I start work at 4am to be in-line with my UK clients). He was my saviour. Anyone moving to Calgary, Okotoks and surrounding towns who needs a REALTOR® – use Eamonn.
Margaret & John...fantastic guy...we have not just found a Real Estate guy, we have found a friend I first “found” Eamonn an internet discussion board, which I was checking out as both my daughter and her family and my son and his wife were planning their moves to Canada and more specifically Calgary. As a mum I had a lot of questions and no-one to ask. I decided to write to Eamonn but it it felt quite odd writing to someone I didn’t know. John (my hubby) was not too keen at all. But I did and I am so glad. Eamonn replied almost immediately with some answers. He sounded friendly and helpful, so I kept writing (sorry Eamonn!) He put us all in touch with another family who had just moved out to Okotoks who were extremely helpful as well. At Easter, Eamonn and Jan were over in England visiting family, so we asked if we might meet up. Without hesitation, he agreed and arranged to drive an hour or so to meet us. So the family had lunch with the guy mum met on the Internet!!!!! We had a lovely afternoon with absolutely no sales talk. It just felt like they were both old friends we hadn’t seen for a while. We asked them loads of questions (probably more of an interrogation) and after they had left, we all felt we couldn’t wait to get over to Canada and see the area around Calgary and Okotoks. Our son in law has just come back from Okotoks where he has been for a week of job interviews. Eamonn and Jan spent a lot of time with him, showing him the area and introducing him to other families. He was blown away by some of the properties that he viewed but most of all, he has not stopped talking about what a fantastic guy Eamonn was and how welcoming both he and Jan were. John and I are also going out to Okotoks in the summer to see the area for ourselves but we know without doubt that when the family get out there, we have not just found a Real Estate guy, we have found a friend.

Emma, Jan, Ben & Sam...lovely and genuine... fantastic guy We are towards the beginning of our story about moving to Canada and Eamonn has been there with us every step so far. Having so many questions about this venture that we are embarking on, it is an amazing comfort having somebody there that you can rely upon. Regardless of the question, the amount of detail and effort that goes into Eamonn’s replies is just immense. When he is helping so many others, I don’t know how he manages it. He has researched issues arising, relating to both of our future employments/ schools and so many other things that I think he knows more about us than we do! My husband, Jan, went out to Okotoks recently, on a research trip and stayed with Eamonn and Janet. This gave him a lot of time to see just how lovely and genuine they both are. They took him to see so many different places, which gave him a really clear picture of the place we will soon hopefully call home. Jan told me of the many nights they spent chatting on the deck, sharing experiences about moving country, both sides of the argument. Eamonn took Jan to see some detached homes, some townhouses and some condos, all of which were very interesting. Jan gave details of what we were looking for and Eamonn found the properties to match the criteria. He did this, knowing that we are not in a position to buy just yet and that probably, when we are ready to buy, those houses will have sold. The point was to help Jan (and myself) to be more informed about the property market so that when it’s our time to buy, we will make a better decision. Eamonn never made Jan feel like his time was being wasted. He and Jan looked at every house in great detail, weighing up pros and cons. Jan enjoyed his trip so much that he was a bit disappointed to come home to me and his boys! But now that he is back, he is like a dog with a bone trying to get us all out there really soon.
