WE L COME TO
Welcome to friendly faces, abundant places, and comfortable paces. In Mt. Pleasant, cultures collaborate to keep our city on the upswing. We invite you to join us to celebrate our cherished lifestyle and meet in Mt. Pleasant. Experience world-class entertainment at the Soaring Eagle Casino, join in on our rally cry, “Fire Up Chips!” and find 100 things to do, every season, throughout the year. We know this is the place in Michigan to raise our hands, raise our families, and raise our glasses. Meet our staff!
CHRIS ROWLEY, Executive Director My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. We love attending local events in Mt. Pleasant such as a Max and Emily’s Summer Concert or cheering on the Chippewas at a home football game. Fire Up Chips!
JAKE SCHMITTLER, Sports Manager Explore! In all forms. I love exploring the area parks throughout each season, exploring the surrounding villages and communities for unique attractions and things to do, exploring unique events that happen throughout the year in Mt. Pleasant, and exploring different foods at locally owned eateries!
MICHIGANDERS. MEET HERE.
ANGELA MARTIN, Digital Marketing Coordinator - If you’re looking for a place to meet up with friends, my favorite place to work on projects, enjoy coffee and waffles with friends or sit on the patio with my dog, Nama, is Ponder Coffee Company in Downtown Mt. Pleasant. My favorite things to do, no matter the season, is explore area parks and preserves, flow and glow at Yoga on Main (hot yoga) and visit Hannah’s Bark Park with Nama.

On the cover Briahna Viglianco’s favorite photo spot The self-taught photographer’s favorite spot in Mt. Pleasant to take photos is Deerfield Park. With such variety -- the beach, hills, bridges and hiking trails -- “it’s always different, every time.” Born and raised in mid-Michigan, Briahna picked up photography after having her son. She finds it relieves stress and is a chance for her and four-year-old Milo to spend time together. Briahna’s favorite photo ever happened during a rainstorm. She caught a shot of Milo running carefree along the suspension bridge in the pouring rain.
JD COPUS, Sales Coordinator My favorite thing is to grab crepes and coffee at Pleasant City as a morning pick me up. I love walking around the campus of Central Michigan University as it’s so cool to see how the campus changes through the seasons.

Local Favorites Jacob Kain – In the five years since Jacob and his family moved to Mt. Pleasant, they have discovered many favorites around town. Top on their list is Doozies Ice Cream Place, a 35-year tradition in the community. Despite the long lines, Doozies’ sweet treats are worth the wait. Daughters Riley (7) and Rory (4) love Superman ice cream and a scoop of strawberry served with a smiley face made of candy.

he Mt. Pleasant area is the intersection of every walk and stage of life. From brilliant canvas art and unique sculptures to exploring the Midwest’s premier American Indian museum. Where fresh meets familiar, the Mt. Pleasant area thrives on art and culture. Experience the Midwest’s premier American Indian museum, the Ziibiwing Cultural Center. The center provides education on
the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and other Great Lakes Anishinabek tribes, and a diverse collection of sacred and ceremonial items. Visit the Museum of Cultural and Natural History at Central Michigan University for temporary and permanent exhibits, provided by the university and students enrolled in CMU’s Museum Studies. We recommend the Kozmic
Clash: Peace, Love, and Outer Space and “Feel the Music” in the hands-on gallery. Walk through displays of artistry and brilliance at a local gallery. See more than 150 Michigan artists’ work at Art Reach of Mid Michigan, explore prints, jewelry and more at Main Frame Gallery, and witness up and coming artists at Central Michigan University’s various exhibitions.

Local Favorites K. Schmittler – Moving to Mt. Pleasant from Los Angeles 20 years ago was a bit of a culture shock for K. She has grown to like the smallness of the community. From the downtown parades to the summer concerts in the streets and the county parks where you can stroll the trails and hear the Chippewa River running, K says Mt. Pleasant is the perfect setting for a movie showcasing a small Midwestern town.
