Itinerary HIGHLIGHTS Day 1: Arrive at Pemba International Airport and transfer by road to the coastal village of Mucojo. Board your traditional dhow, bound for Mogundula Island. Spend two nights at our comfortable mobile camp on this uninhabited paradise. Day 2: Swim off pristine sandy beaches, snorkel, birdwatch, and explore Mogundula’s sacred lake and unspoiled tropical forest. Days 3–4: Sail the clear blue waters of the Quirimbas Archipelago with a stop (conditions permitting) at tiny Rolas Island to snorkel the reefs and swim at white sand beaches. Camp at stunning Matemo Island where you can take guided walks to the rural fishing villages on the northern shore. Days 5–7: Sail to Ibo Island and explore its 200-year-old ghost town and 16th century forts. On guided walks you’ll discover the day-to-day life of the Kimwani people and learn about the island’s turbulent history.

You’ll also travel by dhow to one of the most renowned and secluded beaches in the Quirimbas. Overnight at Ibo Island Lodge, located within renovated colonial mansions. Days 8–9: Fly by light aircraft to Pemba and transfer by road to Ilha de Mozambique. Stop en route at a Catholic church with well-preserved murals and a fascinating history.
