Reviews I loved this book as the ending of the series. I got see a lot of characters that haven't been around for a while. I read a lot of bad reviews for the book, but this is Charlaine Harris's series and she wrote an ending the serves her characters well. I have read all of her books and this one gave me the conclusion that I can count on with her. Life may not be perfect for Sookie but I think she found her patch of happiness. Like in real life what may fit one person seems crazy to others, but Charlaine wrote true to Sookie and that's what should matter not that as a reader you didn't get what you would choose.
I can understand why some people are getting their panties in a twist because they didn't like this last book. I personally didn't have such huge issues as some. I will comment that CH could have actually expanded this last book into probably three separate books as to how much was actually going on. It felt slightly rushed, as though CH was just tired and since she knew how she wanted to end the series, she did just that. Each book in her series didn't have too many things going on all at once when compared to this last and final book. I think maybe CH felt that if she was going to end the series, there had to be one last brouhaha. All those forgotten enemies of Sookie are all brought out in this final book to create a clean HEA.(view spoiler) As for the romance and how everyone is upset about who Sookie is suggested to end the book series in a relationship with, you can't honestly believe that you didn't see this coming since the very first book. While I am an Eric fan...(view spoiler) Overall, the book was actually very anti-climatic, even with the bad guys popping up like daises in Sookie's faerie blessed yard. It felt as though it was trying to the final book of the series, but leaving it open if CH decided to go back to the series later on.
I don't understand why everyone has their panties in a bunch! I absolutely love this book and I thought it was the perfect ending and choice for Sookie. No more running. No more danger. No more shenanigans. Her choice was perfect for her and I honestly wouldn't have seen it any other way! If this book would've gone the way fans wanted it the story would never end, there would be no closure. This is about what is best for Sookie! I feel like everything fell into place for Sookie and one can hope she has a peaceful rest of her life! So Charlaine Harris I raise a toast to you and I sure as heck am gonna miss Sookie!
It always feels like summer once I've read the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel. I'll be sad to see this ritual come to an end (but there is still True Blood!) As the last installment in the series Charlaine Harris does a fine job of tying up lose ends and giving the series closure. Still fast paced with the hard edge that makes them so addictive and as always tempered with her signature southern charm. Edit: holy crap there are a lot of people angry about how this series ended. But I stand by that this was a
convenient and logical way to end. Besides I was never much of an Eric fan anyway.
I will admit this was a quick read. I read the book in a day. I am sad to see the end of this wonderful series but I am looking forward to a new series from Charlaine Harris. Honestly the book ended the way I thought it would. It did seem to be a bit of fluff just to get to the end but after this many books in the series that does not surprise me. I do believe that was Charlaine's way of showing us that she truly is done with Sookie and all her adventures. To everyone that's ticked off at the ending: GET OVER IT! It wasn't your book to write! When you spend as much time on a successful series as she did you would be in the same position. Writer's don't write their stories to please you. Yes they want us to enjoy their books, but what you think should happen isn't the way it's always going to go. The world does not revolve around you or your opinions. As someone once told me "Opinions are like a**holes. Everyone has one and they all stink"....Even mine.
