Reviews I know I seem to be in the minority- but you go Harris! Ive been a fan of him since the beginning. Lets be serious - we all knew Sookie wanted babies - so she had to end up with Sam, Alcide, or Quinn. The idea she would end up with a vamp was not even something I could or would consider. For those who think Ms. Harris has done her fans an injustice- I argue that like most product/book reviews/customer service depts only the disgruntled are the ones who make the most fuss. I am happy the series ended like this! On to the final wrap up this fall. I am hoping for Jason and Sookie to both have children and for a wrap up with Hunter, and of Amelia and Bobs baby! Thank you Charlaine for such a wonderful series! You were right - some fans would be mad some would be glad!
Well I loved this final ride with Sookie and friends. It's not great literature but was very enjoyable. Plus, the series concluded as I had hoped it might. Quite a few characters popped in to take their final bows and I was grateful for the little prompts as to who was who with the minor ones. Made me want to return to Book 1 and start again. Looking down the page there are a lot of 1-stars and most of them it seems angry because Harris chose to take her characters down a path they didn't approve of. This is always the case when fans get attached to a certain 'ship'. Sookie always was a very down-to-earth girl - no Bella Swann yearning after vampiredom but a woman with a strong sense of family and community. So this was a fond farewell for me.
It was fantastic! I read the spoiler, and I was glad that I did. I didn't worry about what would happen next, and just got to enjoy the book. This book reminded me of her earlier better books- the personality and actions of folks were more consistent then in recent books. Sookie is charming and funny, always the polite Southerner. Sam was loyal, strong and true blue. Eric was strong, sexy, ambitious and calculating. He loves Sookie and his 'children.' We didn't get enough Pam- I love Pam. There was Bill- strange, dry, but loyal and caring. Quinn returned as the larger-than-life entertainer, not the crazy mamma's boy. I think the ending was right- especially for Sookie. Knowing what is important to her- her town, her family house, friends and family and maternal instinct. This felt right. My only gripe- waiting months and paying more for an epilogue- feels wrong.
I can't believe it's all done now! I've read these books for a while now, and it's been a hell of a ride with Sookie. It's like you're part of the little town and know everyone's lives. I didn't really have an idea on how I wanted it to end until I was half way through, and then I thought, man I hope this happens. And it did! I'm really happy with the ending. I admit some of the books were better than others, but this was a perfect ending for her. Charliane Harris, you're a star! You've given us a Southern town with so many interesting characters, you gave us magic and supes, and didn't mock the South. It's entertaining, I mean have you seen True Blood?! I'm so
glad I got to read these books. So glad! Thanks Mrs. Harris! xoxo
Well I have to say that things ended the way that I figured Charlaine Harris would end them and I am ok with that.....The practical side of myself would have to say that I have always liked Sam and I always figured that Charlaine Harris would end things with Sookie and Sam ending up together. Sam has always been there for Sookie and Sookie for Sam. Also Sookie's using the Cluvial Dor to save Sam changed the both of the forever and set up for an incredible bond between the two based on the use of the fairy magic. My fantasy side would have loved to have had Sookie end up with Eric but that's mostly because if I'd been the heroine of the books I would have wanted to end up with Eric. Eric could be mean, a jerk, and just plain stubborn however underneath that tough exterior he loved Sookie as much as Eric could love anything. So even though I personally wanted her to end up with Eric I'm happy that she's going to end up with Sam. Sookie never wanted to become a vampire and she wants kids so it only makes sense for her to end up with a being who could provide her the normal things that life has to offer. It will be interesting to see what Charlaine writes in her upcoming novel due out in Oct or Nov where she will writes to tell us a little about what is happening in Sookie's life now that the book series is over. I'm glad she's doing that just to give us a little more information. I hate that the series has ended but I look forward to see what other world's Charlaine comes up with for her future novels.
