Reviews I found this book to be amazing. I found this book to be amazing. I picked it up just after reading A Feast for Crows and couldn't put it down. The first third of the book was extremely good, especially because I found I missed the characters so much after reading A Feast fo Crows. Martin does a good job of pulling you into those characters even though its been an enitre book since there was a chapter on any of the characters in the beginning. The middle third of the book was the major downfall of the book, if there is one. While I found the middle to still be good it slowed down with many of the chapters only being there so the event at the very end of the chapter could happen, which makes the book drag a bit. The last third of the book however redeemed itself. The book picks up the character from A Feast for Crows and the character exclusively in A Dance with Dragons begin to pick up again. I literally could not put the book down after I reached the last third, I read it all in one sitting, I only stopped for a few shot breaks. Overall the book is very good, the first and last thirds being some of the best things I've ever read, and the middle portion being of lesser quality that the first and last it is still very good, making for one of the best books out there.
Martin is amazing - what a prodigious talent 900+ pages and it wasn't enough...How long do those of us who are addicted to this series have to wait for the next installment? Too long! I even bought the hardcover because I was too impatient to wait for the paperback. Complex fascinating characters and enough action, treachery and emotion to satisfy any reader - what a treat!
Eat Your Heart Out George R R Martin has managed to rip out my soul and tear it to pieces which I didn't think was possible after the death of Ned Stark and the Red Wedding. I am now awaiting the release of The Winds of Winter on pins and needles.
A must read epic fantasy! A great conclusion to the best fantasy story of our time. The paperback doesn't come out for a few another year
but the hardback is well worth the money. I loved the book and would recommend it for any guy from 18-40.
1100 pages added to a great saga! George R.R. Martin continues his epic tale with yet another massive book full of what you already know you love. I don't really feel the need to write a long review, if you've already read the first four books, you know you can expect a well written thrilling story from Martin.
Excellent Read!!!! What a wonderful book.Just when you think there are no more surprises to be had,George R.R. Martin throws a few more your way.I read this book in 5 days. For anyone who loves this series, you can't put this book down.I patiently await the next book to find out what happens with these characters that I love and those that I love to hate!!
Matin has done it again! Great read!! I was slight apprehensive in buying this book based on all of the unsatisfactory reviews but I'm so glad I ignored them and bought it. One point I do have to clarify is that I did not have to wait the 5 years in between book 4 and 5 as many others did so I wasn't as disappointed in Martin's timely ability to provide us with this saga. However, Martin never fails to disappoint - I was quickly transferred back to the Seven Kingdoms and immersed in the stories of all the characters. I was surprised at how quickly the end of the book cam and am now anxiously awaiting for book 6. I only hope that it won't take as long for the next book in the series to be available and that I don't forget what has transpired in the previous 5 books. But then again - I'll have the joy of re-reading them all to freshen my memory. Thank you George RR Martin!
