After a brilliant 2025, the ProMX Championship will return with eight rounds of high-stakes action that will take riders and fans on a journey across Australia’s finest motocross venues.

It’s easy to see why the ProMX championship continues to be a showcase of the best of Australian motocross.

It starts with the top riders competing in the Kawasaki MX1 class to the emerging talent in the Pirelli MX2 class, the next generation of Australian motocross talent in the Maxxis MX3 class, and the ever-expanding EZILIFT MXW women’s class.

And let’s not forget the Veterans, Fox Racing MX85 and KTM MX65 Futures classes.

Fans won’t miss a moment of the action with the exclusive television coverage through SBS, SBS On Demand, Stan Sport and the ProMX TV livestream. This season is especially meaningful and exciting for Penrite as we celebrate 100 years as a family-owned, Australian-made brand. Reaching this milestone is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it makes our continued involvement in Australian motocross even more special.

2026 also marks our sixth consecutive year partnering with the ProMX Championship and Motorcycling Australia. Over that time, we’ve seen the series grow stronger each season, with great racing, passionate fans and talented riders across all classes.

Motocross has always been close to the heart of Penrite.

Supporting the motorcycle community – from grassroots riders to professional racers – is something we truly believe in. Our motorcycle and bike care products are developed with riders in mind, and we’re proud to play a part in helping the sport continue to grow.

It’s also great to see the Ezilift MXW class creating more opportunities for female riders to build their skills and compete at a professional level.

CANBERRA ROUND TWO WRAP The second round of the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) – held in Canberra on April 19 – delivered in spades for the crowd that ventured out to Fairbairn Park in the nation’s capital, as Yamaha’s Jed Beaton (Vic) took a double moto victory in Kawasaki MX1.

With clear skies presenting a great day for racing, the second consecutive round of dominance for Beaton is an illustration of his perfect start to the season where he has asserted himself as the man to beat at the quarter mark of the season.

Kayd Kingsford came away with the most points in Pirelli MX2, having recorded a 1-2 scorecard to retake the championship lead from teammate Alex Larwood, who had a tough start initially but rebounded to grab a win in moto two.

Hayden Draper (Yamaha) had the perfect outing in Maxxis MX3, also recording a double moto victory, to snatch the championship lead from teammate Jack Deveson who had a less-than-ideal weekend that was compounded with mistakes and crashes.

In Fox Racing MX85 Cup, Blake Bohannon remains the ‘king of the kids’ with another double moto victory to extend the overall points lead over his rivals.

KAWASAKI MX1 Beaton’s (Vic) fine day out started from qualifying, taking the MX1 Superpole before continuing the momentum in the premiere class for the remainder of the day.

then figured something was up.

“I was able to wick it back up again at the end and match Kyle’s pace and go on to win the race and make it a 1-1 day.

“Thanks to the team for a big effort today, the track wasn’t easy as it was so rutted, but the bike was good all day, so hats off to them.”

Aaron Tanti (Yamaha, Qld) also tasted podium success for the first time since 2023, his 3-3 result reinforcing to the ProMX paddock that he still has what it takes to compete at the front.

Wilson Todd (Honda, Qld) and Todd Waters (Honda, Qld) finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Luke Zielinski (Yamaha, Qld) also put in a solid day to finish seventh.

It was a tough round for Zachary Watson (KTM, Qld) and Dean Ferris (Kawasaki, Qld), the former battling the flu but pushed through for sixth overall while the latter had to recover from crashes in both motos to salvage eighth overall.

Nathan Crawford’s (Qld) first weekend aboard Honda machinery saw him record fourth in moto one and then a DNF in moto two.

PIRELLI MX2 Kingsford (Honda, NSW) capitalised by troubles for Larwood (Honda, SA) to take his first ever MX2 moto win, followed by a round win later in the day with a second place finish in moto two for the 18-year old to take the championship lead.

“I was making a few mistakes (while leading moto two) and I saw Alex (Larwood) coming up behind me and knowing he had a bad first moto, I was pretty well off (my pace) so he got around me and I started to follow his lines which enabled me to ride smoother,” he said.

The only potential threat to come forward was from Kyle Webster (Honda, Vic), who was catching in quickly on him late in the final moto to set up a hammer and tong battle to the flag, Beaton using his composure to get the win over his Honda rival by 2.883secs.

“Moto one was all smooth sailing and I was able to take a comfortable victory which was nice, but things got a little more intense late in the second moto,” he said. “It was difficult to see the pit board as the track was super rutted in that area and I thought it was Tanti that was behind me and I was marking him off in some of the switch back turns.

“I was unaware that Kyle (Webster) got past him and was closing in on me until I saw the guys hanging over the fence and

“I knew second would get it done for me, so I rode my own race from there.”

Larwood struggled to get going early in the day, starting off with dramas in qualifying which carried into moto one.

“I got a pretty bad start and then a rider went down in front of me and because I was so close to him, I ended up clipping his gear shifter with my rear wheel which bent it back meaning

CANBERRA ROUND TWO WRAP I was virtually stuck in second gear for the remainder of the moto,” he explained.

Hayden Downie (Yamaha, Qld) and Jobe Dunne (Yamaha, Vic) were fourth and fifth respectively in the round points.

“But then in moto two, I had a point to prove for everyone and I think I performed extremely well.”

Meanwhile, it was a round to forget for Deveson (NSW), who leapt to an early lead in moto one but that’s as good as it got for the recently turned 18-year old.

Other results in Pirelli MX2 saw KTM teammates Dylan Walsh (Vic) and Byron Dennis (NSW) each claim 38 points for the round while Ryan Alexanderson (Kawasaki, Qld) and Larwood rounded out the top five overall.

MAXXIS MX3 Racing at the ACT-based venue for the first time, Draper (NZ) quickly adjusted to the track with a smooth and calculated ride while some rivals faced issues that enabled him to take a double-moto victory and the red plate heading into the next round.

He began to make mistakes that carried into the second moto where he crashed heavily on the opening lap, then went down a second time before eventually crossing the line in 28th and one lap off the pace.

FOX RACING MX85 It was another clinical performance by Bohannon (Yamaha, NSW) who won both motos by a combined 1:16.426secs.

“We only really get four laps to learn the track before we get into qualifying, so even though I wasn’t the fastest, I felt like I was the guy who would only get better as I worked out the track,” he said.

“With each lap, I became more comfortable and familiar with the track, and the speed started to come.

“I didn’t panic and wasn’t going to try and overdo it as I knew that would only hurt my lap times.

“I stayed consistent, off the dirt, and ended up with a great result and I’m pumped to get the round win.”

Liam Millard (GasGas, NSW) and Koby Binnion (GasGas, Vic) rounded out the top three overall while Brax Pollard (KTM, NSW), Jayce Stocker (KTM, WA) and Maxi Harris (Husqvarna, NSW) also secured podium finishes over the two motos.

Bohannon carries a 25-point lead into the final of the threeround Fox Racing MX85 Cup, which will be held in Toowoomba on May 24.

Riley Burgess (KTM, NSW) got second overall with a 2-4 result while Cooper Rowe (Yamaha, NSW) also popped up with third overall, courtesy of third in the final moto which propped up his positioning in the round points.

MX1 CLASS The Kawasaki MX1 class is the top category in ProMX, where the top factory-backed teams and riders compete, representing all the major Japanese and European manufacturers on latest state-of-the-art 450cc four-strokes – including Italian marque Beta for the first time.

MX2 CLASS In 2025 the ProMX Championship will welcome back the hotly contested Pirelli MX2 class, a stepping stone for young riders on the path to professional racing.

This class allows riders as young as 15 to compete on machines ranging from 122-250cc: the perfect place for young talent to showcase their skills and make their mark.

With most of the top riders, including Ryder Kingsford (Honda), Noah Ferguson (Yamaha), Alex Larwood (Honda), Byron Dennis (KTM) and Jayce Cosford (Kawasaki), returning in 2026, the heat will be on from the get-go – and that’s without even factoring in hotshots graduating from MX3, including Kayd Kingsford (Honda), Jet Alsop (Honda) and Ky Woods (Yamaha).

MX3 CLASS

The Maxxis MX3 class is the stepping stone for juniors to advance to the senior ranks of nationallevel racing. It caters for riders aged 14-U18 who can race on machines with a capacity ranging from 122150cc two-stroke and 200-250cc four-stroke.

This class also offers exceptional riders the chance to move up early to the Pirelli MX2 class at 15, aligning with international age groupings.

The Maxxis MX3 serves as an entry point for both privateer racers and manufacturer-backed team riders to learn the ropes of professional racing and get accustomed to the style of racing, schedules, and track conditions.

The objective of this development class is to equip riders with the skills and knowledge needed to make a smooth transition and embark on a successful career in the MX2 class.

KTM GROUP MX65 FUTURES KTM Group Australia is proud to continue powering the next generation of motocross racers by presenting the MX65 Futures class at three rounds of the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship.

For the third consecutive year, KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and GasGas will unite to support the exciting class at Gillman (May 10), Appin (June 14) and Queensland Moto Park (August 1-2).

Open to riders aged 9 to 12 on any brand of 65cc motocross bike, MX65 Futures provides a stage for young talent to showcase their skills and compete for glory.

Each round will crown a winner, with an overall series winner to be celebrated at the final round.

Participants will enjoy an immersive race team experience, including guided track walks, exclusive access to KTM Racing Team and Raceline Husqvarna Racing Team riders, and an MX65 Futures goodie bag.

This unique opportunity allows young racers to experience professional-level motocross racing, helping them prepare for the 2026 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship in Shepparton (Vic) from September 28 – October 3.

The MA RACESAFE Medical Team launches into a new Australian Superbike Championship season, all thanks to the support of our major sponsors Motorcycling Australia, Motul Pirelli and Thor.

The highly trained & dedicated team of Medical Professionals includes Doctors, Surgeons, Intensive Care Paramedics, Emergency Nurses and Physiotherapists. The team will continue to fulfil the critical role as the Official Medical Team for the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championships, presented by Pirelli.

The 2025 RACESAFE season was full of thrills and spills which kept the RACESAFE Medical Team busy at every event. Emergency Medical & Sports Medicine treatments were provided to competitors, with the RACESAFE Medical Team again spearheading exciting new developments in its well established rider care program.

The expertise of the MA RACESAFE Medical Team is in hot demand, with this team now providing the Official Medical Service for the 2026 Australian Motocross Championships - MX Nationals, 2026 Australasian Supercross Series and Troy Bayliss Classic, just to name a few.

Thanks to a shared vision for rider safety with their sponsors, the MA RACESAFE Medical Team has continued to pioneer new levels of rider care across Australia. Without their dedicated sponsors the MA RACESAFE Medical Team would never make it to track to provide this crucial role.

PROMX CHAMPIONSHIP TELEVISION PACKAGE FOR 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) fans won’t miss a minute of the action in 2026 with SBS to continue as the official broadcast partner of ProMX. ProMX will again enjoy live free-to-air coverage on SBS and streaming platform SBS On Demand across all eight rounds of the 2026 ProMX Championship.

SBS On Demand allows viewers to tune into ProMX live on mobile devices, smart TVs and browsers, with catchup viewing available for those who miss the live coverage.

Every round of ProMX will be broadcast live for three hours, with all the action to be delivered by the ProMX TV team of former motocross stars Danny Ham and Lee Hogan.
