Winter Sports Wrap-Up Mock Trial’s Bests Mother of Mercy’s Mock Trial Team advanced to the Regional Competition for the 6th year in a row! They were one of 11 teams out of 50 in the District Competition to advance to Regionals. Katherine Ruwe ‘13 won best attorney and Marissa Long ‘15 won best witness.

Scholastic Art Awards Twenty-two Mercy art students were named regional winners in the 2013 Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Scholastic Art Competition! Five students (Amy Pellegrino ‘13, Beth David ‘13, Callie Talbot ‘13, Hannah Donnellon ‘13 and Jessica Flamm ‘14) received Gold Keys, the highest level of achievement at the regional level. All of the Mercy artists combined had 35 winning pieces out of more than 5,000 entries. Tech Wizards Emily Beckmann ‘14 and Natalie Geraci ‘14 have been selected as winners of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Award for Aspirations in Computing Ohio Affiliate! They have been recognized for their technology-related accomplishments, including solid leadership ability, good academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. National Merit Finalist The College Board has formally named Katherine Ruwe ‘13 (pictured right) as a National Merit Finalist. She is one of 16,000 high school students in the country with this honor. Winners of the Merit Scholarship awards will be announced later this spring. Recipients are chosen based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.

Swimming Up State Rachael Hester ‘13 competed in the 500-Yard Freestyle and the 100-Yard Breaststroke in the State Swimming Meet. This was the second year in a row Hester qualified for state. She advanced to the finals of the 500-Yard Freestyle and finished 7th overall. Rachael will swim for the University of Toledo next year. Bowling The Bowling Bobcats finished their season at the District Tournament with a 22-3 record (15-0 in the GGCL). Mercy congratulates Sabrina Weibel ‘14 who was named GGCL Bowler of Year and Coach Mike McDonald who was named GGCL Bowling Coach of the Year!

Out with a Bang


A member of the Pride of La Salle Band, Alex Zeller ‘15 (pictured right) was selected to perform with the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble (CYWE) at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).Placing 1st out of 21 bands from the tri-state, Pride of La Salle was recognized as Grand Champions at the Mid States Association Championship.

Srping Into Mercy

(Right) Buzzing with spirit, Future Bobcats cheered on Mercy’s basketball team, participated in a shooting contest, won Mercy spirit wear, got their faces painted and rocked out with the Bobcat at Future Bobcat Spirit Games on January 22.

Pinkies Out

Saturday, May 11 | 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 1st - 4th graders and their moms Mercy’s 3rd annual mother/daughter tea party will include treats, crafts, and a fashion show! Pink attire is encouraged. Admission: $6/person


Mercy Art Exhibit


Friday, April 12 | 6 - 9 p.m. 7th graders enjoy an ice-cream social and movie while learning about opportunities at Mercy. FREE admission and an iPad mini raffle!!

Basketball Kelley Wiegman ‘13 set the new All-Time Leading Scorer Basketball Record and finished her Mercy career with 1,150 points! Wiegman will play basketball at Northern Kentucky University next year. Pictured at left, Kelly shooting the record-breaking point.



Academic Highlights

Srping Concert

(Above) A record of nearly 200 5th and 6th graders lit up the school with excitement at Junior Bobcat Night on Friday, March 8. Each student was able to choose two activities to participate in, including a scavenger hunt, decorating cupcakes, roasting marshmallows by the campfire, and arts and crafts followed by a pizza party.
