MODULE DESCRIPTION This module introduces us to the design process and provide us opportunity to undertake practical design projects as well as to learn to use different computer software to complete our projects.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION MULAB My design is known as MULAB which means Music Lab with its tagline “No Music No Fun”. It is a place equipped with different structures and mechanisms that allow people to explore and interact with to create music and sounds. It aimed to embellish Pasar Karat with music and to attract more teenagers to come over. Each structures have its own unique play which would guarantee visitors to have unprecedented fun and experience. There is a rooftop busking area too for performers to showcase their talent to the public.

PHASE 1 ANALOGOUS LANDSCAPES

We are given a site ( Pasar Karat ).We are then require to research on the site by understanding the tangible and intangible things happen there such as the background, people there, things they sold and etc. We are to discover a subject interested, identify problems and develop a solution in narrative manner.

ABOUT PASAR KARAT

Known as "Market of Thieves" in the '80s.

Operates daily from 5 am until 11 am.

Sell their collections of antiques, vintage, electronics products, clothing, as well as accessories, most are used items.

REFLECTION PHASE 1

Able to apply research methods, analysis skills and problem solving skills by using critical and creative thinking.

The moment which I think worth it is when attended tutorials. This is because in the session I would received useful feedbacks from my tutor for me to do improvement.

As for the moment I felt challenging, I think it would be the inconvenience affected by the pandemic. This is because I couldn't go to the site myself to experience the atmosphere, I believe that when I was there I would be discover more than just through my devices screen.

To conclude, I am glad to complete the work in time and learn the amazing of narrative.

PHASE 2 THE MATERIAL AND DEVICE

We are to develop 2 models implemented characteristics or mechanisms which presented the solution from the last board from previous narrative.

REFLECTION PHASE 2

I learned to design creatively and to solve interior architecture issue as well as discover the concept of "spatial" by making models.

For the moment I felt valuable, I believe it would be when I surf Pinterest. This is because many crazy and amazing inspiration that I could gain from the website.

Apart from that, the moment that quite difficult would be to create circular forms. To elaborate, it is because i need to bend it with more effort as it is quite elastic and hard and it cause my fingers sometimes would be very pain.

Overall, I understood my work better as I translate my idea to a 3D model to show the characteristic I want and as a guideline for me to develop further.

We are given a house in Pasar Karat. We are then require to design that space via Sketchup using the idea progressive from phase 1 and 2.

REFLECTION PHASE 3

By doing this assignment, I learned to use digital software like Photoshop, Illustrator and SketchUp. Most importantly, I learned to design a space by applying the characteristic and mechanisms develop from previous project as well as to present my work using visuals.

The moment I felt interesting is when I doing the rendering. I was literally enjoying and the rendering tells so many stories of my place and to show the atmosphere I want.

Beside that, the moment I think quite hard would be when doing design in SketchUp. I was new to it and need to watch many videos of tutorials to learn. In a nutshell, I am very enjoy in the project and develop a lot of skills that would definitely worth for my following semester.
