in Diesel is back as Xander Cage, in the first xXx movie in 12 years, XXX: Return of Xander Cage. But joining Diesel this time around are a multicultural cast of actors, carefully chosen from all around the world, to give the film a truly international feel. Casting a multicultural group of actors is something Diesel initially started doing on the Fast and Furious franchise, but for xXx he truly travelled the globe to assemble his dream team. “I had been incorporating this multicultural tone to the Fast and Furious franchise to great success and I wanted to push it even further on xXx,” the actor said. “To the point where I wanted to go, not just to all the multicultural actors who lived in California, but I wanted to go into entirely separate film markets. Entirely different regions and celebrate their heroes and their actors.” Among the film’s cast are Hong Kong action hero Donnie Yen, Indian actress Deepika Padukone, Chinese star Kris Wu and Thai martial artist Tony Jaa. There’s also Australians Ruby Rose and Toni Collette, Rory McCann from Scotland and English UFC fighter Michael Bisping. “We really travelled around the whole world that was really very exciting and I knew we were on to something,” Diesel added. “I knew we were on to something special when we looked to the world to cast this movie and didn't just stay to the confines of Tinseltown.” XXX: Return of Xander Cage is set for worldwide release on January 20th 2017. Streep vs. Trump sparks Twitter fray
onald Trump called Meryl Streep an "overrated actress" on Monday after the three-time Oscar winner publicly criticized him for having belittled a disabled journalist. Without naming the president-elect, Streep, the most admired U.S. actress of her generation, assailed him while giving a lifetime achievement acceptance speech at Sunday night's Golden Globe awards. Her speech received more than a million YouTube views. In it, Streep recalled her dismay at Trump's imitation of Serge Kovaleski, a disabled New York Times reporter, during the 2016 election campaign. "This instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone in the public platform by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody's life," the "Sophie's Choice" actress said. Trump on Monday tweeted that Streep was "one of the most over-

Pop star Perry, who campaigned hard for Trump's Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, is also expected to march in Washington, D.C., alongside the likes of comedienne Schumer, superstar Cher, and actresses Patricia Arquette, Olivia Wilde, Debra Messing, Uzo Aduba, Frances MCDormand, and Zendaya. Organisers estimate more than 100,000 people will join the demonstration, which will take place a day after Trump's inauguration on 20 January (17). Meanwhile, former Ugly Betty star America Ferrera has been appointed chair of the march's
"artist table" to help with the event's organisation. "Since the election, so many fear that their voices will go unheard," the actress explains of her participation. "As artists, women, and most importantly dedicated Americans, it is critical that we stand together in solidarity for the protection, dignity and rights of our communities." Solidarity marches are also being planned around the U.S. and across the world, with funny woman Chelsea Handler leading one such protest in Park City, Utah, where the Sundance Film Festival will be taking place. rated actresses in Hollywood." His comment sparked a top trending Twitter hashtag #ThingsTrumpThinksAreOverrated with users suggesting other issues he had similarly dismissed. "Being a war hero," tweeted one. "Laws against nepotism," suggested another. "Hamilton the musical," recalled another, while one user added "American intelligence services." Trump on Twitter denied mocking the reporter when he flailed his arms and slurred his speech at a campaign event. His top aide, Kellyanne Conway, said on Monday that the media should pay more attention to Trump's feelings than his statements. "You want to go with what’s come out of his mouth rather than what’s in his heart," Conway told CNN. Streep also urged viewers to support press freedom through the nonprofit Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). Donations totaling $88,000
have poured in since her speech, more than the group received in the entire month of December, which was its best ever single month, deputy executive director Robert Mahoney told Reuters on Monday. "This has been a fantastic show of support for the CPJ," Mahoney said, adding the CPJ was not aware Streep planned to mention its work at the Globes ceremony. Josh Earnest, spokesman for President Barack Obama, said Streep had exercised her right to free speech with a thoughtful, deeply felt message. Trump succeeds Obama on Jan. 20. Others, including Meghan McCain, daughter of Republican Senator John McCain, took another view. "This Meryl Streep speech is why Trump won. And if people in Hollywood don't start recognizing why and how - you will help him get re-elected," she wrote on Twitter. Source: Reuters
