ST MARY’S CHURCH NEWS We are very pleased to confirm that our 4th Sunday services are now being taken, on alternate months, by the Rev Oliver Folkard and the Rev Stephen Seamer. We welcome and are most grateful to them both. St Mary’s has a mole problem in the churchyard any advice on how to deal with this issue from our readers would be most welcome. Please remember to use our bottle bank, which is now back in the church car park, the revenue is much needed. Penny Brough Churchwarden

FRIENDS OF GUNTHORPE PARISH CHURCH The Friends Churchyard Clear-Up will take place on Sunday the 15th of May from 9am until about mid-day, when we will have sausages, buns and drinks to celebrate our achievements. (A vegetarian option will be available!) Please can all who are free come to help, even if only for a short time – it all makes a big difference. There are jobs of every size for all ages and abilities and it makes a great boost to the Spring start of the churchyard gardening season. Bring your secateurs, tools, etc. along if you wish, but we will have tools on hand. The provisional date for our AGM is Friday the 1 st of July at 6pm in the Village Institute. We hope to see many of you there. The meeting will be followed by fish and chips, and it’s a great time to come and see what we’re about if you are new in the village. The Friends is a secular charity raising money to support the fabric of St. Mary’s Gunthorpe Church. Further subscription details can be found in the 50:50 Club article in this issue. Please mark Saturday the 30th of July in your diary for the Friends Fete BBQ in the Gunthorpe Hall gardens. It begins at 7pm. Fruit punch will be included, but please bring your own wine. Tickets are £10 per adult (a small increase since the last one in 2011), £6 for children age 5 to 12 (no change), with under 5 year olds free. This is the evening before the village fete and is a
