217 - (A) US COLT MODEL 1889 NAVY REVOLVER W/ RIG. Serial No. 74906. Barrel length 6”, caliber .38 long Colt. Manufactured in 1896. One of the harder to find U.S. inspected models to come out of the 1892 swing out series Colts are the antique serial range, double action, revolvers manufactured for the United States Navy. The butt is stamped “U.S.N., (Anchor), .38 DA (Trident) No. 8061, NCT, 74906”. Features: blue finish, six shot, double action with Colt black composite grips. This scarce revolver is in all original condition. It retains approximately 60-70% original blue with the balance turning patina. Grips are near mint. Strong clean bore. In addition, this revolver comes with the rare original U.S. Navy marked holster and ammo pouch with wood block. Holster is embossed “USN” and also stamped “USN”. The leather ammo pouch is stamped “USN” and has the wooden cartridge block intact. Both these pieces are original, period to the gun. The Navy belt is a more recent vintage but still looks good with the rig. Excellent all original early Spanish/ American War era Navy rig. 1,500.00 - 2,500.00 LOT - 217

218 - (A) S&W NEW MODEL NO. 3 NAVY REVOLVER W/ RIG. Serial No. 35483. Barrel length is 6”, caliber is .44 S&W Russian. These revolvers were manufactured from 1881-1888. It is a very robust double action chambered for the .44 cartridge. It was a direct competitor for the Colt Model 1878. This revolver is in the far scarcer blue configuration. Revolver retains traces of blue, balance is basically smooth brown patina. The hammer and trigger still show case colors. Matching numbers on cylinder and barrel release. Fine pair of aged ivory grips, lock up is tight, strong rifle bore, indexes perfectly. It is housed in a period double loop holster that is stamped Cameron & Sweeny, Grand Junction Colorado. Has a California clip point, unmarked cartridge belt. F.A. Cameron operated a shop in Colorado at the turn of the century. Bottom of holster has been shortened, but still in excellent condition. 219 - (A) WHITNEY NAVY CONVERSION GUN FIGHTER’S RIG. Serial No. 23900. Barrel length is 7-1/2”, caliber is .38 rim fire. These revolvers were manufactured by Ely Whitney of New Haven. The Whitney Navy was manufactured in the 1850-1860’s. Features full octagon barrel, six shot, single action, with two piece garnished walnut grips. This is a fourth type. There are flashes or original nickel finish on barrel, but gun is basically a smooth soft brown patina with sharp legends and no cancer. Grips are very good to excellent, cylinder indexes perfectly, strong rifling. A vast majority of Civil War hand guns were from the Colt firm and seldom do you see a Whitney conversion offered for sale. This is a clean sharp all original fine conversion. It is housed in an excellent period slim Jim holster with early money belt and nickel plated California clip point buckle. The belt holds seven original .38 rim fire cartridges. Great early gun fighters/Cowboy rig that saw use on the plains immediately after the Civil War. 1,500.00 - 2,500.00
