202 - U.S. Rifle Model M1 Garand.** SN: 6086524. This is a standard service model government issue M1 Garand semi-automatic service rifle. Chambered for the .30-govt-06. Frame dates to post-Korea manufacture. It has a 6528287-SA y01 numbered bolt. Barrel is stamped SA-5-56. Has a circle P on wrist and eagle DOD 1/2” acceptance stamp on left side. Stocks are excellent. Metal retains virtually all of the parkerized finish. Trigger guard is not stamped. Strong bore. Perfect action. ME reading - 1. LOT - 203 203 - Springfield Model 1884 Rifle (ID’ed Indian Wars). SN: 317669. Rarely does one find a military rifle in this condition I.D.’ed to a specific soldier and division from the Indian Wars. This rifle was issued to Neals Anderson in 1891. Neals was a member of the 3rd Infantry, 8th Cavalry Dakota Territories. This rifle comes with copies of the original issue papers, along with copies of the 8th Cavalry from this era with such notable images as Red Cloud, Captain Taylor, military photographs of the division, Pine Ridge Indian camp, Comanche the horse that survived the Custer massacre, and an Indian chief taken at Pine Ridge in 1891. This is a standard U.S. Trapdoor rifle with the ramrod bayonet, hooded front sight, and chambered for the .45-70 govt cartridge. Standard features include 32-5/8” barrel, two barrel bands, walnut stock, dated 1884 case color block, and single shot. Rifle is all proper with all proper military inspector marks. The cartouche on left side of wrist reads SWP 1891 (Samuel Porter). All metal surfaces are a strong blue mixed with light patina with sharp factory markings and traces of color on block. Excellent walnut stocks with no crack or chips and just minor bumps and bruises associated with war-time use. Near Mint bore. Perfect action. Very historical documented Trapdoor Indian Wars rifle in exceptional condition. There are volumes written on the 8th Cavalry from this time period as it pertains to the Indian Wars. Further research on this soldier could add even more history. In the December 2014 Martial Arms Collector magazine Mr. Gagner writes about this rifle with the following information: The 3rd Infantry was garrisoned with 7th and 8th Cavalry during various Indian battles. LOT - 204 204 - ID’ed Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Rifle. SN: 150391. This standard Model 1879 with the 32-5/8” barrel chambered for the .45-70 govt cartridge. It has all proper military proofs. Lock is dated 1873. SWP 1883 cartouche on left wrist. All metal is a smooth brown patina. Excellent stocks with no cracks. Very good bore. Perfect action. Comes with Springfield Research letter. Sent to Company B, 3rd Tennessee Volume Infantry, Spanish American War. 800.00 - 1,200.00

LOT - 205 205 - Springfield Model 1884 Rifle (ID’ed Sp-Am War). SN: 285146. This is a standard Model 1884 Springfield U.S. Trapdoor rifle chambered for the .45-70 govt cartridge. Standard features include 32-5/8” barrel, two barrel bands, walnut stock, dated 1873 case color block, and single shot. Rifle is all proper with military inspector marks. The cartouche on left side of wrist is visible but not readable. All metal surfaces are a smooth blue-brown patina with sharp factory markings. Excellent walnut stocks with 3/4” closed crack at back of lock, and the usual bumps and bruises associated with war-time use. Cartouche on left wrist has SWP (Samuel Porter), but cannot read the date. It is accompanied by a Springfield Research Service letter that states this rifle was issued to Company C, 21st Kansas Volunteers Infantry date 1898 Spanish-American War. Further investigation into the exploits of this company during this conflict can shed some valuable information. Near mint bore, perfect action. 800.00 - 1,200.00
