Kelly Ogden - MurphyMadeJewellery Seven months after our son Noah was born, I decided I wanted to return to work. Having worked in fashion and sales for over ten years, I thought it time to take on a new venture. I’ve always been creatively minded and loved my jewellery, and I felt there was a gap in the market when it came to pieces that were bold and sophisticated, while still being everyday wearable - which is especially important around baby hands! And thus, MurphyMadeJewellery was born. Fresh colours and subtlety are incorporated into all my designs, while still making a
statement. I keep all demographics in mind and like to think that anyone can find a piece of jewellery they love at MMJ. My baby boy is the greatest gift I could ever ask for and I love working from home, which enables me to spend as much time as possible with him. That’s not to say it isn’t difficult juggling motherhood and professional life at times! You definitely need to be a multi-tasker. There are a lot of late nights and coffee! I also have an amazing support network of friends and family, who are always encouraging me with my endeavours, especially my husband who is my rock.
MurphyMadeJewellery is always growing and developing. I am constantly working on new designs and adding fresh dimensions to my business. At the moment I am working on a new line of clutches and have just begun wholesaling to other businesses. You can find all of my handmade items on my website at www.murphymadejewellery.com.au and follow me on Instagram @murphymadejewellery! Kelly Ogden MurphyMadeJewellery
PERMANENT MAKE-UP - AN EVOLUTION After entering the beauty world in 1994, I now have extensive aesthetics and cosmetic beauty industry experience. The Permanent Makeup Clinic evolved when I was working my clinics from Mt Martha and Mornington and noticed the Mornington Peninsula was missing a specialist in this skill. A passion for permanent makeup was immediate, and a natural extension to my existing beauty portfolio. Being a mother of two and wife to my husband Paul (owner of local business Aqua Pool Cleaning) are the most rewarding and fulfilling roles I have ever had. Juggling kids and my business is challenging but I absolutely love what I do and we all just seem to work in with each other. My passion for what I do is driven by my one-year-old,
Ivy-Rose, and my 14-year-old, Jade, wanting them to realise that having a goal or a dream can become reality. The satisfaction I get from watching my clients’ reactions when they see the stunning healed results that permanent make up can give is a fantastic feeling. From eyebrow makeovers, to precise eyeliner and lip liner that corrects uneven or diminished shaped lips. The time saved on applying eyebrows, lip and eyeliner over a year can save you at least 50 hours of application (approx - based on eight minutes per day) now that’s a bonus, not to mention the money you save on conventional cosmetics. RECRUITMENT & CAREER PROFESSIONAL NOW WORKING FROM HER PENINSULA HOME
My family and I moved to the Mornington Peninsula a little over one year ago. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!
I have been recruiting for over 15 years and have worked with large global recruitment firms, managing huge clients such as ANZ and Centrelink. Most recently I joined the team at the Slade Group where I work closely with our key clients. With over 45 years experience, Slade Group is an originator in recruitment in Australia and they have the capacity to deliver DECEMBER 2014 (38)
recruitment services ranging from temporary and permanent support roles through to global executive search and selection. I work from home on the peninsula for much of my week, which allows me to deliver high quality staff for roles throughout the peninsula and the southeast region of Melbourne. My consulting role is all about developing creative solutions to ensure my business partners achieve and exceed their HR objectives, and my candidates achieve and exceed their career goals. Working for an industry leader who has the vision to move to an agile workplace means I can have a fantastic work-life balance.
I manage my time so that I can be involved in my children’s lives when they need me and I can focus on my clients and candidates when they need me. It is with this flexibility that I am able to achieve the level of excellence I strive for in all areas of my life. If you are looking for the best people to deliver a competitive advantage in your business, or for the next great adventure in your career, please feel free to contact me for a confidential discussion.
