Mt Eliza resident wins $50,000 IT Invention Test with CareMonkey system Mount Eliza resident, father and CareMonkey CEO Troy Westley has won the annual $50,000 IT Invention Test competition for 2013. Fifteen finalists competed for the title on Wednesday 27 November in Geelong with CareMonkey judged the overall winner. The CareMonkey system is used by schools and clubs to collect emergency and medical details from parents using a secure electronic form. It saves administration overhead for schools by eliminating the need for collecting and following up missing paperwork for every excursion and camp. Parents are tired of filling in the same form over and over again. Instead, parents can update the details at any time ensuring the school always has up to date
information. CareMonkey mobile apps for smartphones and tablets then make the details instantly available to the teacher or coach so they can keep children safe and know how to respond in an emergency. The system captures emergency and medical contacts, allergies, asthma plans, medications and other care instructions. Schools and parents are loving the system. “A most practical and brilliant idea” remarked Simon Collis, Principal of St Joseph’s Primary in Elsternwick. “CareMonkey has made such a difference!”, according to Heather Harrison, School Administrator and PA to the Principal at Heatherton Christian
Re-dazzle your diamonds! Many of us who wear diamonds on a daily basis often forget just how beautiful their jewellery is when given a professional clean. Often hidden behind a thin veneer of skin oils, soaps, lotions and who knows what else, a diamond really comes to life again when given a good clean. But you needn’t make a trip in to your local jeweller to get great results at home. The Mornington Peninsula Magazine talks to Anthony Hansen from Diamond Coco on just how to re-dazzle your diamonds! Anthony suggests that you first treat yourself to a new toothbrush then retire the old one to active diamond duty. Next, grab any mild detergent or soap you have handy and mix it with a little warm water in a cup. Prior to brushing, let the jewellery sit in the soapy water to help loosen the grime. After a minute or so, take out your jewellery and start gently scrubbing all surfaces paying particular attention to the underside of the diamonds. The underside of the DECEMBER 2013 (25)
College in Clarinda, “No more chasing parents for medical forms and emergency contact details…teachers can access information no matter where they are…it’s a win-win for all”. Troy came up with the idea when he accidentally pulled his step-son’s asthma plan out of the filing cabinet at home. “We should be able to share this electronically with people who look after Taylor, like teachers, family, friends and sports coaches’ Troy thought. CareMonkey is now used by thousands of people around the world to share care information. The award follows CareMonkey’s recent win in the state iAwards for best and most innovative health app in Victoria. diamond is where most grime will build up and cleaning here is key to a professional result. You will find the small bristles of your old toothbrush perfect for this. Once clean, give your jewellery a good rinse under water being careful not to drop it down the sink! Finally give it a pat dry using a lint free cloth and you are done. If you have not cleaned your jewellery for some time, the results will surprise you. As a word of caution, Anthony says not to use toothpaste, ammonia or boiling water. Each of these are useful in limited applications, but they are also the culprit to many at home botch jobs. Finally, whilst you can achieve great results at home, it’s worth a professional check over once a year to check for any loose or bent prongs. If you wear white gold, this is also a good time to get your jewellery re-rhodium plated. Have your jewellery cleaned FREE of charge at Diamond Coco by calling 1300 230 430.
