The site is located in the w e s t of t h e w e s t e r p a r k i n Amsterdam. According to the master plan of MVRDV, these office buildings will be develop into residential buildings. Under the theme of green life, we tried to make this area more dynamic. In our proposal, each house has their own balcony, where they can grow plants and enjoy the sun. The second facade create some random frames to show the vibrant life of the residence. In this way the building offer a series of scenario to the city.

The site is located in Kaunas, it is alone the Nemunas river, which shows a natural character overall. Inspired by M.K. Čiurlionis’s painting, we propose an architecture of light color and movement to enhance the sensory experience of the musical performance. After the studies of the concert hall, we tried to integrate the larger scale programs of the concert hall into a more natural and residential environment. So we use an undulating roofs to blur the edge of the massive building volume. The dynamic roofs also resembles the ever-changing river shore. The main hall is a contemporary iteration of the classic and proven shoe-box concert hall. The stage position is moved forward by several rows, assuring a complete envelopment by the audience, with relatively short distances and good sight lines. A large window behind the stage offers unobstructed views over the Nemunas River and the city center. The stage is designed to accommodate a full-size philharmonic orchestra, with elevators assuring good sight lines between musicians and ample flexibility for many instruments.

Location: Istanbul, Turkey Building area: 3700 square meters Function: Museum, OffIce, Workshops, Cafeteria, MUJI shop, Night club. Building Type: Complexity Period: September 2016- September 2015

This project is a Turkey handicraft museum in a to sustainability, it favors recyclable materials such lik of this brand, this wooden building is designed complex, instead of searching a true or incontest preserve the culture.

The most attractive part in this parcel is the histor or offer a glance when passing by. The remaining 19

ourist zone. The topic was ”Brand and Sustainability”, the chosen brand is “MUJI”. The research shows that the essence of MUJI simplicity and ke rattan and wood. As we know wood is highly positive for ecological issues, especially for green gas emissions. Based on the philosophy to expresse its societal value of green and recyclable materials. Since the topic of “sustainable development” is highly contested and table definition of sustainable building, this design tried to lower the ecological impacts, respect the surrounding, prolong lifetime and to

rical stone wall. All the remaining walls are kept in this design. And the collapsed wall parts are used to guide people to find the entrance historical walls blended with the building and together with the hill all serve a better version from the foot of hill. 20

Offer a Best view. Avoid the extremely steep areas. Connect open area and the semi-open area.

Green Space: Reducing Road noise. Nice space for pedestrian.

Overall the Beyoglu area is steep. There are several extremely steep areas in the site, making these areas flat cost a lot and LARGER SPACEit can be used as a natural landscape is and not necessary, for building. Moreover, according to Ken Yeang, to a greater or lesser extent, ever y designed system interacts with the environment (Yeang,2008). In the process of turning the natural landscape into a man-made environment, all the damage to the LARGER SPACE land is unrecoverable. With the aim to lower the impact of the natural environment, this building is designed to respect the hill site. Then, after demolishing the building, the site can recover as much as possible. 21

Volumes are cut off when touches the hill, in this way, hill can be recovered as much as possible after demolishing. However, it brings some difficulties for the floor plan, especially for washroom, elevator and stairs. In order to solve this problem, stairs are placed mostly in the same place on each floor, so people can easily come out in case of emergency and the layout of the washroom brings convenience for the pipe. The building is divided into two main parts, studio part and museum part. Both parts are connected by the designer ’s workshop which is designed as a bridge on the highest floor. The museum and the studio are close at night. The temporary exhibition, cafÊ and elevator are open at night. The temporary exhibition can be used as a platform for music. 23

Urban Acupuncture 2014 Group Work (8 people)

23

This project is located in SunGang, ShenZhen. Nowadays this area is under the transformation from the old to new. The site consists three urban textures, a newly built tall apartment area with an average height of 75 meters, a urban historical zone with only one or two floors, and a “pigeon house” for poor people. The name " pigeon house" comes from the illegally built cubes with high density.. The density is so high that it is even possible shake hands through the window. These “pigeon houses” will be demolished after the permission from the landlord. According to the new city plan, a new station will be constructed on the west of the site.

I respected the memories, and in my opinion each site has its own character which should not be erase. Following the construction of the new station, this area will be developed into a new commercial center. Most of the buildings in this area need to be demolished or renovated. In order to keep the identity of the site, the design tried to keep some element in the site such as the historical temple, which limited the height of new building. There was a large open space which used to be an old running line. The idea was to made an iconic building for people to meet and communicate. The basic building shape was following the running line.

27

Running track interfere with the new construction yard BaoGang Road

yard

Station

The site is located in the north of a station. Travelers may pass through the site to the BaoGangRoad. The space can be nether too open or too close, so a yard is designed to create a boundary of the space. The boundary is the surrounding building designed under the surrounding urban texture.

keep the yard Reshape the volume

The volume is shaped to avoid the sharpness of the block and respect the round track line. The gap is used to connect the station and the main road.

Running track reacts with yard

Eave above running track

Gound level

The site is small and it is not necessary to divide the block into two parts, but it is necessary to keep the gap since it offers a good connection to the station. So the block is joined and some part is made underground. 28

29

Due to the height limit of the historic area(4m), this building is only two floors. The surrounded high dense apartments are already too overpowering on the historical area, instead of offering a "concrete forest", this building focused more on human experiences.. The low swirling-like building shows a humble attitude to attract more people. The old running line was kept has an landscape elements for grass and pavements serving as the plaza in the center.

The design started with an analysis of an Chinese school. It is an Confucian School. Confucianism is an ancient philosophy of respect and kindness, it addresses the importance of the rule. It is interesting to see differences between western and eastern education types. So some parts of the building are designed with a great order, in this area you can be more focus and can concentrate more on studies. The other area is more creative, you can discover things by yourself in a more relaxing environment. 34
