Michael R. Bloomberg was born into a working-class family in Massachusetts. He learned early to work hard to get what he wanted and to be charitable to others. After college and graduate school, he moved to New York City to work for a financial firm. When his job was eliminated, he founded his own business, which made him a billionaire. Always looking for new challenges, in 2001 he successfully ran for the office of mayor of New York City, and in 2010, began a third term.
