Preliminary plans anticipate breaking ground later this year, marking the beginning of a transformation that will create a true community gathering space, rich in character and reflective of Allen’s beloved hometown spirit. Anchoring this revitalization is the adaptive reuse of Allen’s historic fire station, soon to become a one-ofa-kind dining destination. Designed to preserve the building’s original architectural features while introducing modern elements like rooftop dining, the project promises to blend authenticity with innovation. Careful attention will be given to maintaining the fire station’s iconic bay architecture and preserving the mature trees that define the landscape, ensuring that history remains at the forefront of this exciting new chapter. Beyond the fire station redevelopment, Downtown Allen’s renaissance is being thoughtfully orchestrated through a series of initiatives aimed at boosting community engagement. McKinney Airport Expansion WHERE FIRST-CLASS CONVENIENCE MEETS VISIONARY DESIGN In a city known for its charm and momentum, McKinney is setting the stage for a transformative leap - one that elevates not only its skyline, but its standing on the regional and national map. With more than $52 million in secured funding and a vision rooted in modern sophistication, McKinney National Airport is preparing to welcome commercial passenger service for the first time in its history. Slated to debut in late 2026, this expansion signals more than infrastructure, it signals intention. The cornerstone of the project is a 45,000-square-foot passenger terminal, designed to reflect the evolving needs of North Texas’ elite professionals, families, and visitors. The facility will feature three gates upon opening, with capacity to expand to five as demand grows. Every detail, from the architecture to the amenities, has been carefully considered to provide an effortless, refined travel experience. The terminal will include sleek openconcept hold rooms, convenient rideshare and rental car accommodations, a quick-service concessions stand with elevated food and beverage offerings, and infrastructure to support the future like electric vehicle charging stations and a dedicated aircraft de-icing facility. aircraft parking positions will serve both commercial and general aviation needs, providing seamless access for both business and leisure travelers. Connectivity will be streamlined with a newly constructed roundabout off FM 546, paired with 1,500 parking spaces to ensure ease of access and flow. Taxiway C, running parallel to the east side of the existing runway, is part of a broader commitment to functionality without compromising form. Altogether, the expansion represents a $75.1 million investment into the future of McKinney. Of that, $43.6 million is allocated toward the terminal itself, while $15.6 million will be used to construct Taxiway C and $11.4 million toward transportation connectivity. The city’s vision is supported by substantial contributions, including $30 million from the McKinney Community Development Corporation, $22.4 million from the McKinney Economic Development Corporation, as well as a transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan.
