Montreat College

Logo This is our logo. It is strong. Confident. Timeless. And it could never be mistaken for someone else’s. The stone arch, inspired by the architecture of Gaither Hall, represents a door into our community of faith and learning, as well as a door that leads out to the world to share that knowledge. The stone at the center of the arch is called the keystone, the wedge-shaped stone that gives support to the others. Christ is our keystone at Montreat College—and our logo reflects this visually. The logo should be used in a clearly protected space. It should not be distorted, stretched, or squeezed, nor recreated in any other typeface. The font featured in the logo shouldn’t be used elsewhere. Refer to page 35 for typography options for official communications.

Seal The seal of Montreat College should be reserved for formal, official communications only. It should not be altered in any way or used on promotional items or marketing materials.

Size and clear space Logo recognition is a critical part of brand recognition. Maintaining a set of standards for the size of the logo and its clear space ensures that it is always visible and recognizable. Size In general, our logo shouldn’t be smaller than 1.0” in width. When space is limited, due to application size, it can be reduced to 0.5”.

1.0" Preferred size The logo should be no smaller than 1.0”.

Clear space Clear space is the area that surrounds the logo and separates it from any other text or graphics. Keep all other elements outside of this area. The space around the logo should be equal to (or greater than) the height of the “M” in “Montreat.”

Clear space The height of the “M” is the guide for the miniumum clear space area. Use it to maintain a distance from any other elements.

0.5" Minimum size Some applications may require a logo that is smaller than the preferred size. In these situations, the logo can be reduced to 0.5”.

Primary Palette

Color is a fundamental part of our visual language. Our palette is an extension of who we are and the community we inhabit. It uses warm, natural colors to create an intentional, open, and spirited feel. All of the colors complement our two primary colors, Montreat Blue and Montreat Gold. And all feel as if they were meant to be used together. Secondary colors are used to provide emphasis and support the primary palette. They should never dominate a piece.
