APRIL 1 - DELTA CHAPTER (1718) OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ACTIVE & RETIRED FEDERAL EMPLOYEES ORGANIZATION Our Chapter serves the active and retired Federal Employees living in & around the Eastern section of Contra Costa County. We do have some members outside of this area & in other states with a total outreach of nearly 200 individuals. APRIL 6 - ROYAL FAMILY TEA A Fundraiser For Royal Family Kids Camps - Serving Local Foster Children from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. (Doors open & seating begins at 1:30pm). APRIL 7 - VISIONS OF THE FIGURE “Visions of the Figure,” a new exhibit hosted by the Discover Art League at CR Framing, 700 Harvest Park Drive in Brentwood, CA 94513. The show features drawings and paintings of clothed and costumed models created by a figure-sketching group that meets at the gallery. Dancers, actresses even a volunteer fire-fighter - sport a wild array of creative costumes and poses in this colorful collection. APRIL 20 - DOCUMENT SHREDDING Liberty High School Grad Night is having a “Shred This” fundraiser from 9a.m.- 12:30p.m. in the schools horseshoe lot at 850 2nd Street in Brentwood. Bring your unwanted sensitive documents for destruction in bankers boxes ($5.00 ea,) or garbage bags ($10.00 ea.), max limit of 5 boxes or bags per person. APRIL 20 - 27: OAKLEY SCIENCE WEEK The 12th Annual Oakley Science Week is back for another year of exciting science-themed activities. Science Week will be held from April 20 - 27 with popular programs from past years as well as new workshops. The program is free and all ages are welcome - no registration is required. “Passports to Science” flyers will be sent home with elementary school age children and “Passports” will be available at City Hall as well. Those children age 17 and under who collect a minimum of 5 stamps on their passports will receive a prize at the end of the program. APRIL 20: REUSE & THEN RECYCLE EVENT Mt. Diablo Recycling (MDR) has a vision to educate the community to go beyond filling up recycling containers by adopting new reuse habits that give recyclables many lifecycles. To this end, MDR is promoting an Earth Day celebration with the theme “Reuse & then Recycle” by offering two identical free sessions on at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg. Session one runs from 9:30am-11:30am; session two from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
