Celebration of Worship

10:30 am Service

Next Week

Sunday, February 24, 2013 Second Sunday of Lent As you prepare for worship, consider this description of a woman named Anna from the gospel of Luke. There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived wither her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Anna prepared herself to experience God through prayer and fasting. You can do the same. Take time right now to prepare your heart for worship in prayer.

When Jesus began his ministry people were excited. As a young rabbi, he taught in the local synagogues and everyone praised him. Well, that is until he went to his hometown and made a radical claim: He was going to bring in God’s kingdom and he was going to bring it to everyone. How did the people respond? They wanted to throw him off a cliff! When someone encounters Jesus, some of their basic presuppositions are challenged and that can make people angry. Join us next week as we continue our walk towards Easter morning and consider how you might respond to the radical call of Jesus.
