Celebration of Worship

10:30 am Service

Next Week

Sunday, May 6, 2012 As you prepare for worship, consider these words: "As worship begins in holy expectancy, it ends in holy obedience. Holy obedience saves worship from becoming an opiate, an escape from the pressing needs of modern life." -- Richard Foster "Worship changes the worshiper into the image of the One worshiped." Jack Hayford

Every day we have a choice: Live God’s best for our lives or do things on our own and live less than God’s best. By “less than God’s best” I mean everything from having a day in which things just felt BLAH to seasons in which we experience no joy, hope or love. What choice do you normally make? Jonah, ran away from God and ended up in the belly of a whale. What do you do when you’ve turned away from God and life has taken a turn for the worse? Pray. And God responds. He always responds. Join us next week as we learn from Jonah, how to pray in dark places.

Meal Coordinator Needed for Shelter Meal -one meal per month If you are not familiar with our “Shelter” ministry at Monte Vista, it goes like this: On the first Thursday of every month our church is responsible for preparing and feeding the local homeless and less fortunate at one of the coalitions “host” locations. As the coordinator for this mission, you will plan the meals and then ask members to contribute a portion of the menu. On the day of the meal, participants can either bring their dish to a central location or to the host location where we will be serving the meal. The team of volunteers make a few preparations, serve the meal and clean up - usually in about an hour and a half.

To be prayerful, compassionate and humble disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, enthusiastically sharing the message of salvation through inspired worship, devoted study and faith that serves.
