Celebration of Worship

10:30 am Service

Next Week

Sunday, March 18, 2012

The life of a disciple demands that we not only make a choice about what we believe, but also what we do with all our stuff. Will we allow our “stuff” to get in the way of allowing God to change us into radical followers of Jesus who in the words of Mother Teresa, “live simply so that others might simply live.” As Peter waits to discover the reason Jesus came to humanity, Jesus reassures Peter that you cannot out give God. No matter what you give up, you’ll receive back so much more.

Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

The Children are excused after this time for Sunday School. The Middle School students are meeting for The MSG in Youth Room #4.

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY (Pew Bible page 733)

Luke 9:10-17 Larry Lindsay

Knowing that I have an eternity and that it will be spent with God, gives me a blueprint of how I should live my life, and face my death.

SERMON

Tom Stephen

I have the hope that by the strength I receive through faith in God, I have been investing in an eternity to be spent in the presence of my Creator and wait for you at the Gate.

CLOSING WORSHIP

If I am eternal, how then do I prepare myself for that eternity? If this life is merely a preamble to my true purpose, how then should I live. Who created me for this eternal existence, and how do I ensure that my relationship to him is correct?

Monte Vista’s PCH Discipleship Groups will move together through bible study toward a greater understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and victory, his love for the poor and thirsty, and the role we can all play in caring for the 884 million people who are still waiting for water.
