graphic design & visual communication

I’m fascinated by the Earth’s beauty about me since I started studying on Academy of Fine Arts, I  have become deeply interested in the field of graphic design and visual communication. I always look for new experiences, challenges and adventures which are associated with creativity and problem solving. travelling has become an indispensable part of my life after my first visit in Norway – the most inspiring country I’ve ever seen. I  have become highly focused on the Nordic countries’ culture. Scandinavian nature is what I  adore the most. I  always try to combine beauty and functionality by using my personal experiences and taking inspiration from my journeys. I  feel delighted when I can create something with my own hands in general.

The Slottsfjell Festivalen logo & poster

Slottsfjell festival is one of the most popular festivals in Norway. It is a five-stage festival organized each summer in the city of Tønsberg where a thousand years old Viking fortress can be found on the top of the hill. On this very hill the Slottsfjell festival takes place. 12th edition of the festival was organized between 17th and 19th of July 2014.

06

I would like to present my concept of logo and poster for next edition of this event. Each edition is represented by the same sign (the tower) but different typography. I kept this principle.

LĂ˜Ă–P

magazine layout

A new project of magazine layout. My idea was to create a Polish magazine which consists news about Scandinavian design, architecture, art, lifestyle and other interesting things. Each issue would contain an interview, articles and short reports. Every enthusiast of the Nordic countries could find a lot of news as well as information about history. Layout concept is characterized by only one typeface (Lato) and a lot of white area.

Playfair Display

specimen book

My book was created to promote a typeface Playfair Display by Claus Eggers Sørensen. I made various compositions using different styles and sizes, scaling glyphs and enjoying the forms. When my work was done I  realised how the typeface beautiful and elegant is. I  kept Polish language, I  decided to use Polish poem characterised by

18

long, old-fashioned words which are good correspond with that classical typeface. By my choice of colour I wanted to create retro style and reach this special, romantic mood, which Playfair Display definitely has.

Eco logotypes

logo redesign package I present set of 4 logotypes. It is a concept of redesigning current versions of logotypes of the non-profit organizations. Each of this institutions supports ecology and focuses on safety of wildlife. I used very simple signs inspired by flora and fauna associated with particular organisation. Fungus as a  sign of Tongass National Forest, jellyfish – Save Sea Life, leaves of acacia – Eco Care, three waves as a  symbol of three biggest oceans – Oceania. But there is al-

ways, possibility to find something more in those signs. As much as possible – I tried to keep the colours as they are in nature. I chose simple typography, mostly sans serif which they doesn’t distract and looks quite modern.

Wayfinding system nagivator Otaniemi

OTANIEMI CAMPUS The campus has several buildings that host the faculties and units of the Aalto University Schools of Technology and also the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. It is based on the plans of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The campus is situated in Espoo (Finland). PROJECT “LAYERS” This project has started on Aalto University. The team included seven students and I was one of them. The main goal was to design a navigation system for the campus. We considered some circumstances that many changes will be made in this area such as new metro station. The idea was to create movable and

adaptable boards. Each board would consist information about the campus area and directions. The information sign has three different boards. This would make it easier to apply new information while the campus changes as well. We made two different signposts – horizontal and vertical – so that different amount of information could be adapted to each format. MY PART OF THE PROJECT I was responsible for final design of information boards (text composition, colours and size). I  took part in research, questionnaire survey and analysis of the area in order to establish important points where the signs should be installed.

Data visualisation of the Nordic countries graduation project

The project is an interactive infographic containing wide range of data and facts about the Nordic countries. Additionally the project is accompanied by display boards which complement digital part of the project. The infographic has screen exposure and is designed by using responsive technology. The project consists of complex issues such as the Nordic Region in an international context, Geography, Environment & energy , Population, Culture & design and Interesting facts. The user can scroll step by step to every issue or use the navigator bar to skip, go back or jump to the topic that is interesting for him. The main goal was to assemble basic data about Northern Europe and 40

present them in a clear, simple and logical way for both fans of the Nordic countries and those who just might be interested in it. Thanks to availability of data and public statistics banks, the project is based on reliable sources. The infographic is designed to promote, educate, arouse interest and expand knowledge about Northern Europe. The idea of the project starts with deep interest in Scandinavia and inspiration taken from annual celebration of the Nordalia Festival. It is a festival about the Nordic countries of an interdisciplinary character, held in Silesia region (PL). The designed display boards can be exhibited during cultural events.

Organisation structure in AFA in Gdańsk

visual information IDEA This Project was one of the challenges on The Graphic Signal in Public Space course on Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk where I currently study. I have collected complex of information about Academy’s structure (departments, lecturers, courses) and presented them in a public space. FUNCTIONAL GOALS The Structure has innovative and legible character. On artboard of size 140x300 cm where the visualisation was displayed I used only black and white colour – thanks to this printing does not demand high cost of realisation. It also makes it easy to adapt on any wall of the Academy’s building

Another important aspect is that my project could correspond with 71th anniversary of the AFA. VISUAL GOALS I combined classic Playfair Display typeface with geometrical non-serif font – Work Sans. Furthermore I deformed elements such as title, numbers and bracket by using a  thick layer of paint and then scanning them. By this manual action I wanted to reach a new quality. Visual information is based on grid. I tried to keep an attractive proportion for the viewer so that the message could be quickly decoded.
