A big summer ahead in the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park

The Thredbo Mountain Bike Park has exceeded all expectations in recent years. Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing sports not only the country, but also in the world and the Snowy Mountains is one destination that is leading the charge with the Thredbo’s ever expanding trail network. The 2017/18 MTB season is just around the corner and the Thredbo MTB crew have some great plans in the pipeline along with clinics and events catering to all levels of riders. The long awaited Thredbo All-Mountain Trail is now 100% completed in its full 10km glory. Starting in the high alpine, the All-Mountain trail takes you three diverse ecosystems delivering flowing single-track, challenging rock-gardens and supreme views down the Thredbo Valley. Graded as an intermediate trail, the All-Mountain gives riders a unique riding experience that is not found on the regular gravity trails of the bike park.

New riders to the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park will be well catered for this summer with 2 hour beginner, intermediate & advanced clinics running daily along with 2.5hr personalised private lessons tailored to the rider’s needs. New for 2017 every weekend and throughout school holidays, morning 3 hour junior ride clinics will be available for children aged 10 – 15 years of age. Utilising the beginner skills park at the Valley Terminal base, the kid’s clinics include free lift access and are designed to give junior riders an introduction to the trails of Thredbo in a fun and laidback environment with the option of upgrading to a full day lift ticket to fine tune your skills in the afternoon. Dirt Art, who are currently at the forefront of trail building in collaboration with the Thredbo Trail Crew will be commencing work on the many planned link trails which will connect the current routes together giving riders the option to mix up their style and type of trail over the 600m vertical decent. A favourite for enduro riders will be the Central Spur link making its way from the All-Mountain at the top of the Gunbarrel Express chairlift across the valley to the middle slopes of the Kosciuszko Flow & Cannonball Downhill. Also on the lower slopes we will see a more direct access from the All-Mountain finish at Creek Station, bringing riders directly back to the Valley Terminal and base of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift. The trails won’t stop here. At the moment Thredbo MTB have a development application submitted which will catapult the Thredbo Bike Park to be amongst the most recognised on the planet. In addition to the new link trails, the Kosciuszko Flow Trail will gain a revamp with some welcomed realignments creating more consistent flow and fun for all rider abilities. On the Cruiser Slopes, similar realignments will also be undertaken on the Thredbo All-Mountain Trail making it a more enjoyable ride than ever before. The Mountain Biking season kicks off on the 18th of November and the MTB calendar will again see the biggest events in the country hit Thredbo this summer. High on any mountain bikers to do list is the massive Cannonball Mountain Bike Festival happening across 6-10 December 2017. Coming into its second year the Thredbo Super Enduro will test the true all-rounder utilising all three gravity trails, Feb 24-25. The battle of the Schools continues with the 2018 interschool’s MTB champs March 15-18. Whether you’re new to the sport or a Cannonball pro there’s something to stoke everyone out this summer in the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park.
