REPORT OF THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON TECHNOLOGY

To the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of the State of Missouri Brethren: Your Special Committee on Technology for the year of 2014-2015 had an incredibly busy year modernizing various systems and technology infrastructure supporting the Grand Lodge Office, our Lodges, and Brethren at large. The mission of the committee is to review, recommend and make changes to the information systems currently in use and needed for future growth. After completing an assessment of the existing technical environment, a prioritized list of needed replacements and enhancements were provided along with the anticipated costs. The internet connection serving the Grand Lodge Office required immediate attention as it clearly was not providing stable and reliable access to the Internet. The previous connection leveraged a cellularbased connection that was highly unstable during bad weather and provided inadequate bandwidth for the office. After checking with and working through several local companies and options, we now have a new provider providing high speed, reliable internet service to the office. The existing telephone system was served by an assortment of vendors with multiple billings and that has now been completely revamped. The first internal system analyzed was the custom built membership system which had, among other problems, several issues maintaining data integrity. The custom membership system served its basic purpose for many years but maintenance on the software had become costly and the system did not provide all the functionalities needed. The market had produced several commercial products that were evaluated by the Committee. Just prior to the Committee’s involvement and without its input, the Grand Lodge office purchased a new
