PROCEEDINGS OF THE

2015

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON MASONIC PUBLICATIONS The “Missouri Freemason” magazine was published two times this year under the direction of RW Steve Harrison, editor. They were Volume 60, numbers 1 and 2. He then resigned. The Publications Committee met and discussed the direction of the magazine, specifically the next issue, and generally with its future and in relation to all of Public Relations. We decided to have the 1st issue of each year in late fall to welcome the new Grand Master and put together a list of articles that we felt the membership would be of most interest. Bro Dennis Burkholder offered to spear head the upcoming issue and perhaps become the future editor. An intern from the University of Missouri-Columbia would assist in assembling the edition for $10/hour. The committee also discussed the use of Bro Burkholder to reactivate our Facebook, Twitter and U-tube accounts, and prepare a membership video for Missouri Masonry.

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON MASONIC YOUTH To the Grand Lodge of Missouri A.F. & A.M. Brethren: The Masonic Youth Committee assisted the Grand Master in his selection of the recipients of the Grand Master’s Youth Award. In March, forms were mailed to all Chapter Dads of DeMolay, Guardians of Job’s Daughters and Mother Advisors of International Order Rainbow for Girls for their award nominations. It was very difficult to choose the winners as they were all excellent candidates. In the end, Shelby Thomas from Taneycomo Assembly #100 was selected for the Rainbow award, John Parker from Waynesville Chapter for the DeMolay, and Tara Jolly from Bethel #43 for the Job’s Daughters. Congratulations to them all. They are indeed fine examples of our Masonic Youth. The Masonic Youth Day Planning Committee consisting of the appointed Grand Lodge committee, representatives of each Youth organization and a couple of other Adult Youth Advisors met twice, (March and May) to plan and organize the Masonic Youth Day which was held on Saturday, August 1st. Again this year it was planned as a Masonic Youth Family picnic at the Masonic Center in Columbia and was well attended – 229 Masonic Youth plus many adult advisors. There were many activities for the youth to enjoy, including a dunking booth, in which the leaders of the Masonic Youth Groups, as well as our own Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother David Haywood, got a thorough soaking ! Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, snow cones, funnel cakes, popcorn and cotton candy was the fare of the day. As usual, the food was served on “MYD 2015” upside down Frisbees that all could take home, along with similarly imprinted cups. The highlight activity of the day was an all-youth silly string
