AESA (Academic Excellence for Scholar, Athlete and Artist) is a small prep school in Austin, TX. The school is designed for students in grades 2-12, who are seeking a unique curriculum to fit their needs. AESA prides themselves in a variety of different schedules, small classrooms, and University of Texas dual credits. Barbara Garza, the CEO of AESA, has been looking forward to expanding her prep academy to something much larger than what it is today. These buildings will be located behind her existing school. Barbara’s dream campus will have a separate high school and middle school, a fine arts building with an auditorium, dorms for the boys and girls, and a commons building for all of the students. Each building will be designed in the modern/hill country style with sustainability included, pops of the school colors, and an aquarium, located specifically in the high school. The concept behind the interlocking circles symbolizes unity between different worlds, with A common path. Each building represents a, so-to-speak, different world, and outlines both circles with help by the specially designed site plan. All of the main entrances are located on the inner-curve of the circles, providing a closed-in, comforting and safe feel.

WILSONS’ RESIDENCE Like the meaning of the butterfly in relationship to this home: stands for change, hope, and life. Such as the butterfly, the bedrooms in the home offer a cocoon like feeling of privacy, located on each end of the floor plan. The openness of the center of the home includes the living room, kitchen and dining area, where a family comes together to find warmth, space and tranquility with each other, as the butterfly symbolizes. The home is designed in Modern/Traditional style with plenty of windows to provide natural lighting. The majority of the color palate are blues and greens. Which are soft and healing colors.
