Private Lake Residence Lake Martin, Alabama

Greg Sellers is building a lake house on Lake Martin in the Shady Bay subdivision of Jackson’s Gap, Alabama. The house faces South towards the lake. He wanted the house to be a place of gathering and entertainment for his guests. He plans on having guests over frequently and overnight. The only permanent residents of the home are Sellers, and his dog, Sally. He currently lives

in a 1500 square foot residence and hopes to build a larger space with an open floor plan, suitable for entertainment. Along with entertaining guests, Greg enjoys grilling and taking advantage of the beautiful views and lake activities. Greg wants this house to be an escape where he can not only entertain but relax and enjoy his space. The goal for this project was to create a space

for Mr. Sellers that meets his wants and needs while maintaining a cohesive and functional design. This design is representative of the region and climate that surrounds Jackson’s Gap at Lake Martin. Various styles such as masculine and southwestern as well as interests such as maritime, war, and American history are combined to provide Mr. Sellers with an eclectic but southern rooted home.

Corporate Office Houston, Texas The project was to design a new office space for the public company, LinkedIn™, located in Houston, Texas. The building on site is a 26,825.1 square-foot warehouse that will be renovated and used primarily by the 40 person company branch employees and visited by 6001300 designers, school groups, and potential clients each year. Currently, there are little to no windows in the building, creating a lack of both natural light and connection to nature. The employees have also expressed

a need for outdoor spaces, a “Think Tank” or brainstorming area, ADA accessible bathrooms and showers, as well as an overall environment that exemplifies the balance between collaborative and private spaces. The design of LinkedIn™ Houston will create a work environment that encourages creativity and collaboration while cultivating more than just conversation between the employees. In order to establish synergy

between the company’s departments, the atmosphere in the space will consist of a cohesive and operative design that incorporates as many sustainable resources as possible. The corporate culture of LinkedIn™ will be reinforced through biophilic, sleek textures that balance geometrics with organic elements and natural light.

Office & Retail San Antonio, Texas

The project assigned was to create and design a firm that included an office space to work in and to meet with clients, as well as a front of house retail space to attract customers. This project is a residential design firm with the retail in the front of house acting as a showroom. Farrimond Interiors is located in San Antonio, TX. The project requirements included a lighting plan, reflected ceiling plan, lighting layers diagram, and a daylight zoning diagram.

The space is intended to make the customer feel relaxed and calm through the use of lighting. In the home, the ambient light imbues a feeling of comfort and calm. The emanating sparkle prompts alertness and curiosity. Focal lighting draws the viewer in, commanding attention while also making the viewer feel calm, giving a subtle reminder of what is important while creating a sense of space.

Hospitality New York, New York

The project was to design the third Arlo in New York City, located in Midtown. The building is 26 stories tall, with 470 keys. There is a 9 story atrium in the

public space, and the corridors for the 2nd8th floors are visible from the ground floor. Arlo is a micro hotel with the standard guest rooms being smaller

than 200 square feet. The building is located at 351 West 38th Street in New York City and is only about a 10 minute walk to the Javits convention center and a

20 minute walk to midtown and Times Square. Arlo Midtown is a place that provides a restful escape through the natural colors and textures and

comfortable furnishings to create a home-like environment. The staff help to provide this feeling of effortlessness through smooth and almost invisible service.

The types of people staying here will typically be young millennials, business travelers, and young couples.
