Title Router for use with other Computers Equipment Author Hilda Olushola - IT Practitioner Institution FE College Academic year 2009/2010 Keywords Research on the Internet using Router Technologies Router Main subject area Information Communication Technology Main level Levels 1and 2 Introduction and overview Mixed age group Mixed Ethnicity Various disabilities System Support Router - using the Internet for research Aims To be able to use the Internet to do Research - The room that the course takes place in does not have the Internet installed Addressing the challenge - To be able to research Acronyms and other technical words so the students can discuss various technologies with in the class room and eventually University or work Outcomes and reactions Impact on teaching and learning - The Tutor was able to use different Websites with the students to aid their learning experience - students were able to do their research in the class room instead of using the Library Learners’ reactions - Enjoyed using the internet in a class room environment - being able to set up the equipment with the router attached Teachers’ reactions - As well as handouts the students were able to do their own research Managers’ reactions - Not discussed Lessons learned - Students has to work out how to use the Router with the equipment that was in the class room - this was a learning experience they would hot have had if the router was not available. I would recommend the use of a Router that can be turned on when needed and switched


off when not needed in the class for work. Using this type of Router accessing the internet is slower that the wired internet access but more controllable Next steps - Using this type of Router accessing the internet is slower that the wired internet access but more controllable - not suitable for all types of lessons
