Staff Continuous Professional Development Statement Mode Training are fully committed to continued staff development, Mode was awarded skills pledge recognition in July 2009 and Investors in People Gold Status in November 2010 (To be reviewed in December 2013) As part of our commitment to staff development all staff have regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, belief, marital status, ethnicity or disability will be given the following 

The ability to develop the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role for which they have been employed, taking into account reasonable adjustments which may need to be made based on individual need, context and circumstances

Be treated as individuals and be provided with the level of support/development which is required for them to develop the skills to do their job effectively

Annual appraisal with the company director/owner

Job chat at least once every six months with their line manager

May request a development meeting at any time with their line manager

Are given targets which are fully reviewed on a monthly basis

Observations of staff is a integral part of MTL quality system including no notification observations

Peer review observations of staff have been operating at Mode Training since 2008 and will continue to be key to staff professional development

Staff can request additional training at any point in writing to their line manager who will then discuss the request with the company director

All staff at a minimum each year receives updated health and safety, equality and diversity and safeguarding training

Staff attend external training if required, if this training takes place outside of their normal working hours they are given time off in lieu

All travel expenses are paid for travel to and from the place training takes place

The full cost of all course fees are covered by Mode Training

The full cost of all course materials are covered by Mode Training

CPD is available to all staff, it is not limited to staff who are regulated and required to register CPD with Institute for Learning (IFL)

A full evaluation of staff training is conducted by the company director yearly prior to completion of the yearly staff development plan

When required staff will be allocated a mentor from within the training centre to assist them with their studies

Adequate time is given to ensure the member of staff completes their training successfully.

Roles and Responsibilities Company Director 

To ensure ALL staff are issued with time and date for their annual appraisal and all the relevant documentation

To conduct ALL staff appraisals, ensuring all staff are treated fairly, with respect and graded according to the appraisal marking matrix

Compile individual staff targets following appraisal in consultation with senior managers

Countersign mid year job chats conducted by senior managers

Conduct mid year job chats with senior managers

Consider all applications for training on an individual needs basis

Feedback decision to senior manager

Liaise with senior managers when reviewing annual staff training plan

Identify their own development needs on an ongoing basis by means of self reflection and taking constructive feedback from their manager

Ensure they are aware of the range of development opportunities available to them

Keep a record of learning and development activity undertaken throughout the year

Maintain CPD records for professional bodies as appropriate

Actively seek out the opportunity to practice or use their newly acquired skills and share knowledge attained from training sessions with colleagues

Complete evaluation following all training sessions and e mail to your manager

Teaching staff should ensure their Institute for Learning (IFL) registration is current and maintained as required
