Modern Gym’s aim is to change the perception of what a quality workout is and what it should be. We create full-body programs using simple tools where the only requirement is open space. Our methods make it possible to achieve a full range of motion that works to stabilize the core, promote balance, agility and increase strength and endurance. Our main tool is the kettlebell. The kettlebell’s unique design allows for this free range of motion while using stabilizing muscles to control the weight. We focus on six basic movements: squat, lunge, dead lift, push, twist and pull. As our programs progress we combine multiple movements to create full-body exercises. For example, moving from a squat into a push press – combining movements to activate the core as well as the upper and lower body. The kettlebell’s uniqueness allows for an endless amount of combinations and variations. Additionally, we incorporate the use of resistance bands that also allow for a larger range of motion than traditional gym equipment, engaging multiple muscle groups and promoting balance. There are numerous combinations that can be achieved with resistance bands that will work your muscles differently than with kettlebells. Our methodology allows us to experiment with new techniques and share them with our clients. The Modern Gym's four week sessions are comprised of four, one hour workouts per week. Our workouts are designed for a broad range of ages and abilities, from individuals simply trying to regain a healthy lifestyle to seasoned athletes. Participants will be taken through a fullbody workout that will activate the core and stabilizing muscles, while developing total body strength and increasing power. One hour sessions are broken down into three sections: the warm up, kettlebell and resistance band exercises, and lastly cardio. All sessions are led and monitored by our instructors to teach proper form and ensure safety. The program has been designed for each new week to build upon the previous one, challenging the body a different way every day. The Modern Gym provides all equipment needed for each workout. Week 1: Introduction Participants will be introduced to our unique equipment and workout methods. Expect a high emphasis on proper form while learning the lifts. Week 2: Beginner Participants will be challenged with new techniques and introduced to combination movements. Week 3: Intermediate Combined movements will be the norm and progressions will continue to evolve by adding more movements to individual exercises.

Week 4: Expert Participants will combine everything learned in the previous weeks, as well as attempt the "Full Body Attack" challenge on the last day.

Modern Gym’s trainers have unique experience in that they have played competitive sports at the high school and collegiate levels, including baseball, basketball, football, rugby, wrestling and mixed martial arts. The training techniques developed by our team will equip athletes with the tools necessary to succeed at the next level. We specialize in training athletes, boys and girls, from 7th grade and on. Our trainers monitor the development of each athlete, focusing on all the traits that make a well rounded athlete - speed, agility, core strength, explosiveness and power. Our tools allow us to teach proper form early to give each athlete the opportunity to reach their full potential and achieve at the next level. Our techniques are great for introducing young athletes to proper weight training and building endurance. Modern Gym's personal training service provides private, one-on-one training sessions for individuals looking for a personal experience. Our trainers are certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and adhere to NASM’s OPT Model. We develop programs designed to fit each individual client's needs. Trainers will track client progress throughout the program, as well as educate them on every day health and fitness. Personal training workouts differ from our four week sessions in that the nature of the workout allows us to tailor our instruction and methods to your individual needs. From our home gym, we are able to vary our training techniques by introducing new exercises, equipment and movements, such as mixed martial arts training and increasingly complex kettlebell progressions. Modern Gym is able to train you at our home gym or a place of your choosing for your convenience. Ben was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. His passion for sports, health and fitness began at an early age at Christ the King School and continued at Jesuit College Preparatory School. At Jesuit, Ben was awarded the 2000 Freshman Basketball Gatorade Hustle Award and 2000 Freshman Baseball MVP Award, also attaining the 2003 Varsity Baseball MVP Award. Ben continued his Jesuit education at Spring Hill College on a Athletic Scholarship (baseball) where he played for three years for the Badgers In December 2008, after two years of studying the martial arts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Muay Thai, Ben traveled to Phuket, Thailand to train and compete in an exhibition fight. Ben won his fight in the first round by way of knockout. Today, Ben gets to do what he loves best - teaching that any fitness goal is obtainable through hard work and determination.

Patrick was born and raised in Dallas, attending Christ the King School and Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas. In his time at Jesuit, Patrick played baseball, football and rugby before continuing his Jesuit education at Loyola University of New Orleans where he played rugby for the Wolfpack for two years and graduated with a BA of Business. Now, as a co-owner and co-operator of Modern Gym, Patrick gets to teach what he’s passionate about – sports, health and fitness.
