Ask our Members What do I do with a roommate who sits 5 feet away from you and doesn’t talk to you? “I do not fear confrontation. I am diplomatic but must insist on cooperation, communication and resolution.”, Veronica German USA “Well , If they don’t talk to you , why don’t you start a conversation with them and release some of the tension.”, Taylor “Do something outrageous to get their attention and then ignore them when they comment, see how they like it!”, Ideal Modelling “Someone has to be the bigger person and brake the silence.”, Jessica

My roommate is a slut. How do I avoid awkward nights?

“Spend less time in the apartment or ask if you can watch? or say I really enjoyed listening to you last night, they will soon get the message.”, Ideal Modelling

? O

ver the past 3 years we have been asked a great deal of questions. Many of which we could answer, but many we could not. From this point on, we are recruiting the help of our members to answer these daunting questions. Welcome to the new Q&A. Feel free to ask any questions in our Q&A section of Modeling International (http://www.ModelingINTL.com) or simply send us an e-mail at contact@ModelingINTL.com. We will choose the best questions and get the answers for you!

Q&A What is the tell tale sign that your significant other is not listening to you? “They kinda stare into space a bit and answer with ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘hmmm’.”, Stephanie “They don’t get jealous when you say how the very attractive woman/man at work made a pass at you...”, Ideal Modelling “They say uhuhh a lot , and they aren’t making eye contact and they are doing something else while your talking to them”, Taylor “Lack of cooperation and awkward communication.”,Veronica

What do you do when your roommate lives with her boyfriend but keeps all of her stuff at your house... Do you keep charging her rent? Yes, if your roommate is preventing another occupant, then they must pay rent otherwise they need to leave. Not to be selfish, but lets be realistic. If she isn’t paying rent and preventing another person to pay rent, then she isn’t being fair and screwing you over in the end...uncool.

Ethno Glam: A Journey Home

Farah Angsana

arah Angsana’s Indonesian culture was showcased extravagantly at her Mercedes-benz Fashion Week show in New York. Her mixture of colors, spirt and love for her ethnic roots was presented in each of her Spring 2011 line. Every passing model brought the audience deep within the heartland of the islands of Java, Borneo and nearly all of the 17,000 islands that her country encompasses. Her variation of golds, bright pinks, greens and even baby blues are all symbolic of her native land. As her press release explained: “The spirit, warmth, and life of Indonesia and its people are united in brilliant sweeps of color.” Which explains why the whole show is called “Ethno Glam: A Journey Home”.§

Powerful Political Guli...

Presidents Daughter’s A Newcomer to Fashion Week

Guli

ulnara Islomovna Karimova is an extremely powerful, wealthy, highly educated and highly political business women. As a very decorated political figure she represents her country, not only in the fashion industry, but also as the appointed Uzbekistan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Spain. This is the first time the Guli Collection has ever been showcased at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and it was well worth the wait. Gulnara brought a great deal of her culture including the “Legend of Ikat” a story of a young girl who weaves an amazing sun inspired fabric than she hung out of a tower window until her love found her. A great deal of this legend is incorporated into each of her designs in her line. Nearly everything about Dr. Gulnara is extraordinary. She received her Bachelorette Degree in Economics from Tashkent State University in 1994. Went on to earn her Master of Arts in regional studies at Harvard University, and even holds a Doctoral degree in political science from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent and that’s just her education. She is also the daughter of the Islom Karimov, the President of Uzbekistan, her native country. Besides her extensive education and political affiliations she is also an amazing clothing designer and business women. In 2008 she joined forces with Chopard to launch her own custom designed set of heart pendants coined ‘Guli for Chopard.’ This is only one of her many business ventures and we look forward to showcasing more of her inspirations at future fashion shows.§

Listen

to ME!!

Why Doesn’t He Listen to Me?

o to any bar or restaurant and sit down next to some women. You won’t have to wait long before you hear the complaints, “It’s like he doesn’t even hear a word I say.” All heads will nod emphatically in agreement. For the remainder of the conversation, stories will make the rounds. Each story meant to top the last. Each lady trying to show that her man is the worst listener. Trust me Guys, this is not an award you want to win. In May 1992, John Gray identified aliens living among us- telling us Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. This revelation brought many people hope, emphasized stereotypes, and rocketed Gray to the position of best selling relationship author of all time. What it failed to accomplish was to make women

stop saying their men do not listen . . . at least those females who responded on our Face book page. Our members did not hesitate to describe how frustrated, pissed off, and depressed they feel when their men fail to hear them (and that covers the gamut from full fledge ignoring to just poor listening). Is it just that men cannot hear? It’s true that 60 percent of those with hearing loss are men (and, on a side note, Viagra can really negatively impact your ability to hear. We’re not sure you mind at the moment though.). But that certainly doesn’t explain the lack of listening by the vast majority of males. Dr. Gray says the inherent difference between males and females contributes to their different communication styles. In fact, Gray contends that the fastpaced life style we live in creates stress which in turn magnifies our

Renee Sorensen internal differences which makes it even harder for us to communicate (Gray examines the effects of modern life on couples in his newest book Why Men and Venus Collide?). Gray promises if we learn the differences, we can alter the way we communicate so it works better for the opposite sex. In other words, you and your girlfriends can talk about the latest OPI color or the cute new shoes you bought on sale at your next girlfriend gathering. Whether or not you agree with Gray, you have to admit that one of the biggest contributing factors to failed relationships is breakdown in communication. And what is a quintessential part of communication? Listening, of course. Gray contends that men and women differ on just about every aspect of communication- from why we listen to how we listen. When Gray identi-

fied these differences, little did he realize that the research coming out of the University of Sheffield would support his contentions so fully. The study analyzed how the brain processes voices. Men, it seems, process the sound of women’s voices in the part of the brain where we normally hear music. That doesn’t seem like too big a deal until you think about it. Music is background noise. We don’t attend to every word. It just washes over us. Therefore, men have to work even harder to listen to women. Apparently Ladies, we have a more complex voice than men. Our voices are comprised of different vibrations and sound waves produced by our voice box. We can make more variation in sound, creating a more melodious effect. Oddly, this complexity in women’s voices explains why most people who hallucinate hear ...

I

Leilani Flannagin have been modeling for about a year now and strive to work very hard to give the client exactly what they want. As someone who was brought up to have a strong and dependable work ethic, I always give 100% to every shoot I’m involved in.

I started modeling after my father passed away, on Christmas Eve in 2007, from a motorcycle accident. I used my new career as an outlet to take my mind of the situation that I was suddenly put in. My mom, who is very supportive, is also my escort to everything involving my new career. Although she is my escort, my mother and my stronghold, she is also my MUA. Over the past year she has become very good at my hair and makeup and often fills in the void if a makeup artist isn’t readily available.§
