For beauty queens, movie stars and even Hollywood celebrities, there’s only one name they trust in health, wellness and beauty practice: it’s O Skin Med Spa, owned and founded by licensed aesthetician Olivia Quido-Co. The skin spa has two outlets in Los Angeles, California.

O Skin’s glittery client list includes Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young from the Philippines, 2012 Miss Universe 1st runnerup Janine Tugonon, 2013 Miss Universe 2nd runner-up Ariella Arida, Kapamilya stars Dimples Romana and KC Concepcion, and A-List Hollywood celebrities Patti Austin and Telma Hopkins. Even 2015 Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach follows Miss O on Instagram.

Lovingly called “Miss O,” Olivia recalls her humble beginning when she emigrated to the US to study cosmetology, which led to more advanced aesthetician courses. In 2003, Ms O rented a small room with one bed at Lody’s Styling Center in a strip mall. She called it O Skin Care.

Center owner Lody Garcia was amazed at the young aesthetician who worked very hard every day. “The owner charged such a small rent; I’m sure she spent more cooking food and feeding me almost every day” Olivia says. “She was like a mother to me.”

While running her business Ms. O completed several courses to complement her Business Administration degree from De La Salle University, Philippines. She found time to take post-graduate courses from the American Institute of Esthetics, International Dermal Institute, Visual Changes Academy, and John Robert Powers International.

In time Olivia opened two O Skin Med Spa outlets in the Los Angeles area: Cerritos Mall at 369 Los Cerritos Center, Cerritos, CA 90703; and Eagle Rock Mall at 2700

The O Skin Med Spa offers services such as O Skin Signature Facial, Luxury Whitening Facial, Luxury Gold Facial, Oxygen Facial, Bio-Light PDT Treatment, 3D Eyebrow Sculpting, FF Depigmenting Treatment, Fractionated Laser for Acne solutions, whitening and lightening cleansers, moisturizers, treatments, sun protection, body products and supplements.

To God be the glory

Olivia owes all the blessings in her life right now to tithing, which is the practice of giving to the church 10 percent of one’s income.

She said that when she started, her space was so small, like a kitchen or stock room. Then she said the Lord taught her about tithing. “The Lord says, if you want to be blessed, then follow me.”

“I had doubts about it. And I asked myself ‘is this for real?’ Malachi Chapter 3, Verse 10 says: ‘Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.’”

Olivia says she couldn’t understand tithing at first when she became a Christian but she still followed the principle. She practiced tithing for a year, but nothing happened. She still earned U$500.00 dollars and really worked hard for seven days. She said the Lord wants us to be a cheerful giver. Over the years she realized that a cheerful giver is someone who doesn’t wait for anything in return.

Olivia says: “I am so thankful that the Lord taught me on the aspect of tithing. And I learned, only 3 to 6 percent of churchgoers practice tithing. Finally from US$500 a week, it became U$1,000 a week. And then it grew more.”

Tithing has become a habit for her that she even told her accountant never to commit a mistake in tithing. She always reminds her

accountant that it’s okay to commit mistakes in accounting but not in tithing, where she pledged to the Lord that she will tithe her whole life.

Olivia says that the Lord tells us to rest on the seventh day so she promised the Lord not to work on a Sunday and offered the day to Him. But since she is so hardworking there are times when work would lead up to Sunday.

But when she gets home, she would still feel empty despite the additional income so from thereon, she promised not to work on a Sunday.

“I think the Lord does not want us to be in the middle. It’s either you are for me or against me.” But the challenge to work on a Sunday did not stop there. A friend called her up and told her that a powerful person wants to try facial and wants it on a Sunday.

“Oh no!” says Olivia. She had no choice but to turn it down. She made lots of excuses, saying that it’s quality time for her family. She put down the phone and asked herself if she did the right thing, considering the money it will pull in. “But I told myself it’s for the Lord. I cannot really work on a Sunday anymore.”

It takes a lot of obedience before you are blessed, says Olivia, who adds that sins block blessings so people really have to pray to the Lord for help in work and how to be good people. She emphasized that when one trusts the Lord, everything will turn out fine. Ask and you shall receive so every day, people need to pray to the Lord every detail of our heart’s desires.

Olivia reveals that she and her husband Jason waited for five years before they got a baby which, for many couples, is a long time. But they patiently waited and prayed for a child every day.

Out of the blue, the couple bought diapers and after a week, she got pregnant, and named their baby “Faith,” and then their second baby “Timothy.”

“You have to put your faith first. And then He says ‘prepare a room.’ It simply means to prepare yourself for His blessings. Sometimes we don’t believe. We had to believe first before we see it,” says Olivia.

She said that if people will hold to His promise, it will come because the Lord will never disappoint anyone. “The Lord will just bring you from glory, to glory, to glory. There will be trials of course. But if you will surpass that, the Lord will bless you a hundred fold.”

Olivia also encourages people to offer their confidence to the Lord. She narrated that one time, she had a 40-something client who had many pimples on her face and whom she treated every two weeks for the next six months, yet nothing changed. Prior to that, she treated clients for several months and their pimples were gone in one, two or three months, except this one.

So she prayed to the Lord, the first time she offered a patient to Him. After one week, the patient called and told her that her skin has improved. She did not believe it at first, but when they finally met, she only had two pimples! Since then, Olivia has offered her patients with serious skin problems to the Lord, for Him to please take care of everything, that He’s just one prayer away.

He’s not telling us to read the Bible for two hours every day. All He wants is to have a personal relationship with us.”

A lot to be thankful for

Beyond business, Olivia is so thankful for the Lord’s intervention when their marriage was in crisis, which she said was already dead. She mentioned that they were in a relationship for 16 years and 13 of those years were husband and wife. To many people, they may look okay, she said, but they are not aware of what really happened in the past. She believes that God can really resurrect the dead so if one has a dead marriage, He can resurrect it and even if one has a dead business, He will resurrect it.

He’s not telling us to read the Bible for two hours every day. All He wants is to have a personal relationship with us.
