The mouth has significance because it is open. If it did not appear to be open, it would be hard to find the point, which is not to draw attention to ‘a screaming head.’ “Well, the first time I saw it, I thought it was just a screaming head,” Christopher Small, SJI attendee said, “but, when it was explained to me, I realized it was an emotion.” The Untitled piece could be titled, Feminine Struggle, because of what it may represent to some. If not, then it would simply be titled, Not Heard. These titles explain what can be

seen in this piece: a female not being listened to by whomever is ignoring what she has to say. The release of all her thoughts and feelings is shown with her mouth, being that it is open. The fact that, for whatever reason, those thoughts and feelings are not being heard is shown, using the glass box. “I have had times when I feel like just screaming and I keep it inside,” Michael Silvers, SJI attendee said. If someone were in the box with her, there would be a different meaning. They would probably let her know that she could confide in them and they would try to understand what she is going through. If this piece could make a sound, it would definitely be the sound of a female voice screaming for someone to hear her out. If not, she would be crying because she cannot be heard. Many people, regardless of gender, have trouble being heard. Sometimes, when they are listened to, they cannot be understood. This piece represents those people and leaves a message that explains what they go through. Louise Bourgeois, Untitled 2001.
