ATLAS COPCO (THAILAND) LIMITED For the high performance turning of carbon steels and alloy steels, the Tungaloy Corporation has now launched two new Cermet insert grades. The NS9530 non-coated and the GT9530 coated Cermet grades have been developed by the research and development team at Tungaloy to deliver remarkable fracture resistance, enhanced tool life and superior surface finishes. The new NS9530 non-coated grade incorporates Tungaloy’s “PremiumTec” special surface technology that reduces micro roughness on the surface to support improved tool life. Ideal for finish to medium cutting applications, the NS9530 delivers excellent stability even when conducting interrupted or unstable machining. Created for finish to medium machining at low to medium cutting speeds, the fracture and wear resistance are perfectly balanced to ensure it outperforms competitor grades measurably. For example, under laboratory conditions, the NS9530 grade has doubled the fracture resistance in comparison to competitor inserts Alongside the new NS9530 is the new GT9530 coated Cermet grade from Tungaloy. This new grade now delivers enhanced adhesion between the substrate and the coating layer. This innovation stabilises wear resistance and tool life while delivering a consistently high quality surface finish whereby sudden peeling or fracture are avoided. While the GT9530 insert grade is suitable for machining in the same medium to finish machining parameters as the NS9530, the new GT9530 is more suited to high speed machining applications. Like the NS9530, the GT9530 insert is capable of resisting wear and edge chipping over a wider range of machining speeds and feeds than competitor grades.
