This   morning   the   singers   of   Virtually   Welsh    will   meet   for   an   intensive   rehearsal.   This    afternoon   and   evening   choose   from   an    array   of   Auckland   area   excursions   of   the   city    surrounded   by   water   and   natural   beauty.

Prepare   to   lose   a   day   in   transit   as   you   cross    the    International    Date    Line.    You’ll    get    it    back   on   the   return   trip!   

Nau   mai,   haere   mai   ~    Welcome,   to   New   Zealand! Arrive   early   morning   to   Auckland    International   Airport   to   be   met   by   your    New   Zealand   guide.   Transfer   by   private    coach   for   immediate   check-in   to   the    hotel.   Freshen   up   and   enjoy   an   optional    walking   tour   before   a   group   Welcome    Luncheon.   This   afternoon   a   group   tour    will   reveal   the   vibrant   sights   and   sounds    of   Auckland.      Evening   at   leisure.

Relax   this   morning   possibly   with   a    visit   to   a   local   Spa,   or   for   the   more    adventurous,   a   Skyline   skyride.   This    afternoon   take   part   in   the   New   Zealand    Welsh   National   Cymanfa   Ganu   under    the   direction   of   Mari   Morgan.   Virtually    Welsh   will   be   on   duty.   A   local   dinner    will   close   this   NZ-Welsh   weekend.

Say   “e   noho   rĆ—â€?   to   Rotorua   as   you   head    to   the   charming   Art   Deco   city   of   Napier.    En   route   you   will   visit   the   fishing   town    of   Taupo   on   Lake   Taupo,   New   Zealand’s    largest   freshwater   lake   and   gateway   to    Tongarino   National   Park.   From   there    you’ll   head   to   the   world-renowned    wine-growing   region   of   Hawke’s   Bay.       Luncheon   will   be   served   at   one   of   the    area’s   award-winning   wineries   on   the    outskirts   of   Napier.   On   arrival,   a   city    tour   will   help   familiarize   you   with   the    delights   of   this   city.   

Depart   Auckland   and   travel   along   the    spectacular   coastal   route   of   the   Bay    of   Plenty   for   Rotorua,   the   place   of    fascinating   MĆ—ori   culture,   hot   springs    and   boiling   mud   pools.   This   evening    enjoy   a   Hangi,   a   traditional   MĆ—ori   dinner    and   performance.

This   morning   we’ll   explore   the    Waimangu   Volcanic   Valley   and   its    geothermal   features   with   a   boat   ride    to   see   the   geysers   and   fumaroles.   This    afternoon   select   from   the   optional    excursions   and   experience   the   area’s    spectacular   scenery,   discover   more   of   the    MĆ—ori   ways,   tour   the   “Hobbitonâ€?   movie    set,   or   do   your   own   thing.   Tonight   we’ll    be   at   the   magnificent   Te   Ao   Marama   for   

Today   explore   Napier,   and   beyond.       Following   the   devastation   of   the   1931    earthquake,   Napier   was   completely    rebuilt   and   is   now   one   of   the   purest    Art   Deco   cities   in   the   world.      The   new    buildings   reflect   the   in   vogue   styles   of    the   time   of   stripped   Classical,   Spanish    Mission,   Frank   Lloyd   Wright   inspired,   as

This   morning   board   your   flight   to   Nelson    and   our   gateway   to   the   South   Island,   the    sunniest   region   in   New   Zealand.   A   popular   destination,   Nelson’s   diverse   geography   offers   everything   from   long   golden    beaches   to   untouched   forests   and   rugged    mountains.   Nelson   is   home   to   more   than    350   working   artists   and   craftspeople    in   traditional,   contemporary   and   MĆ—ori    styles.   We’ll   sample   it   all.      This   evening,    Virtually   Welsh   will   perform   for   a   local    audience   followed   by   a   reception.

Afterward,   we’ll   continue   on   to    Christchurch,   the   most   English   City    outside   England!   Despite   the   earthquakes    of   2010   and   2011,   Christchurch   is    innovative   and   fast-changing   with   a    unique   culture   at   every   turn.      Take   time   to    refresh   yourself   before   tonight’s   Virtually    Welsh   concert   performance   shared    with   a   distinguished   local   choir   in   aid   of    Christchurch’s   continued   recovery.

NOV 2 MILFORD SOUND

An   early   morning   start   will   take   you   on   an    unforgettable   day’s   journey   into   the   heart    of   Milford   Sound,   named   for   Wales’   own    Milford   Haven.   You’ll   experience   the   world    famous   fiord,   dense   with   rainforest,   glacier    carved   valleys   and   beautiful   waterfalls.    Travel   across   the   Southern   Alps   and   the    Homer   Tunnel   through   Eglington   Valley    and   its   alpine   forest,   the   Mirror   Lakes,    across   The   Chasm   to   the   deep   waters   of    Milford.      Here   you’ll   board   your   Milford    Sound   cruiser   and   eat   lunch   as   we   head    out   for   the   two   hour   trip   and   the   watery    wonders   of   the   fiord   up   close.   Boat   crew    will   point   out   the   amazing   array   of   flora    and   fauna   including   seals,   dolphins   and   the    rarest   penguin   in   the   world,   the   Fiordland    crested   penguin.      

QUEENSTOWN

Morning   flight   to   Queenstown,   a   former    gold   mining   town   which   is   now   known    as   the   outdoor   adventure   capital   of    New   Zealand.   William   Gilbert   Rees,    a   Welshman,   is   said   to   have   founded    Queenstown   and   his   statue   can   be   found    in   the   center   of   town.   We’ll   explore   the    sights   together   and   provide   time   on   your    own   before   a   Virtually   Welsh   evening    performance.   

NOV 3 QUEENSTOWN

This   day   is   for   you   to   decide.      Tour   a   “Lord    of   the   Ringsâ€?   film   site   or   choose   another    optional   excursion   on   your   last   day   in    New   Zealand.   This   evening   will   feature   a    special   Farewell   Dinner.

NELSON

Take   a   trip   to   the   Abel   Tasman   National    Park   today   with   its   clear   waters,   exotic    wildlife   and   rock   formations.   There’s   even    a   kayak   to   rent.   Or   relax   in   Nelson   to   take    in   a   glass-making   workshop,   or   simply   go    fishing.      Enjoy   this   corner   of   Paradise.   

OCT 31 CHRISTCHURCH Cameras   at   the   ready!   Leave   Nelson    today   and   travel   south   along   the   eastern    coastline   to   Christchurch.      We’ll   stop    about   half   way   in   the   enchanting   town    Kaikoura   where   the   mountains   meet   the
