DNA Logic Installs Pneumatic Tube System for Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital D

NA Logic, a company specialising in logistical design, supply, installation and maintenance of systems to help hospitals improve material transport and medication management, has been contracted to design and install a functional pneumatic tube system for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. DNA Logic uses Rowa and Swisslog systems to offer some of the best products manufactured in the world to the highest standards. DNA Logic products can be used in various industries such as health care, banking, mining, retail and libraries. With years of experience in the development and implementation of integrated logistics solutions, DNA Logic was confident they can deliver for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. The pneumatic tube system employed is a network of tubes with carriers of various sizes propelled through the network to transport items to and from designated destinations. JSE-listed construction firm Group Five was awarded the R400-million contract in 2014 to build the hospital. Construction work on the new Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital got under way in Parktown, Johannesburg in June, 2014. The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust announced on the day, adding that it had chosen Group Five as the lead contractor on the project. The hospital was built as a matter of legacy for the late Nelson Manadela, ‘help make former President Nelson

Mandela’s “lasting wish”, the construction of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, in Parktown, a reality. The hospital, whose completion is expected in the first quarter of 2016, will cater for all medical purposes and would have about 240 beds and eight operating theatres. The hospital was expected to employ around 150 doctors and 451 paediatric nursing professionals. DNA Logic (Pty) Ltd is a dynamically geared company with capacity suitable for projects such as the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. According to DNA Logicin many processes of hospital logistics, material transport plays a decisive role. DNA Logic argues that there is no need for professional nurses and supporting medical staff bustling around with drugs, surgical supplies and prescriptions – waiting in the pharmacy for the express processing of the transaction in order for them to fulfil the on-demand nursing task. In such cases, considerable time is wasted. DNA Logic offers the highest quality of material transport in healthcare facilities.

The Mechanism of Pneumatic Tube Systems Pneumatic tube systems or PTS, and also known as Pneumatic Post Systems, are systems in which cylindrical containers called ‘carriers’ are propelled through a network of tubes by compressed air or by vacuum. The tubes will connect various departments in a building. The materials
