He and Scooby walked towards the exit. They walked through the doorway and started down the big staircase. When they were halfway down, they heard some music coming from behind them. “Uh, Scooby, did you bring a radio with you?” Shaggy asked. “Ruh-uh,” Scooby said, shaking his head. They slowly turned around and saw a ghost standing at the top of the stairs. It was tall and wearing sunglasses and playing an electric guitar. “Zoinks! A ghost! A ghost!” Shaggy cried. “Rikes!” Scooby barked.

“Jeepers, a secret passage,” Daphne said. “That explains a lot.” “So does what we found,” Fred said. “At the top of the stairs, Daphne and I noticed some wires coming out from under the carpeting. They were stereo speaker wires, and they led into the wall behind one of the posters.” “Like, how about that?” Shaggy said. “Our ghost is wired for sound.” He and Scooby giggled.

“Like, Velma, are you okay?” Shaggy asked. “I’m fine, Shaggy,” Velma said. “What happened?” Fred asked. “And how did you get all the way up to the balcony?” “I was standing on the stage by the piano,”

“Well, that’s not all,” Velma continued. “Just before I took my little journey, I found this on the stage.” Velma held up a ticket to the concert. “I have a hunch that our guitar-playing ghost is about to be unplugged,” Fred said. “You’re right, Fred,” Velma replied.

“Rikes!” Scooby barked as he dove under the buffet table. “Come on, Scoob,” Shaggy said. “Are you going to let a little noise stand in the way of this beautiful buffet?” Another loud noise echoed through the room. Everyone covered their ears. “Zoinks!” Shaggy cried. “Make room for me, Scoob.” He dove under the table, too. “What is that noise?” Daphne asked. “It sounds like an electric guitar,” Fred said. “Amplified very loudly,” Velma added. “Where is it coming from?” Daphne asked.

“I don’t know, but it looks like Mr. Snorkelmuch is going to try to find out,” Velma noticed. “Then I say we should, too,” Fred said. “Let’s go.” The three of them followed Melvin to one end of the lobby and walked through an unmarked door. “Wait for us!” Shaggy called from under the table. He and Scooby popped up and looked around. “Like, which way did they go? How are we going to find them?” Scooby thought for a moment. “Rollow me!” he barked. Scooby put his nose to the ground and started sniffing around. He found a scent and followed it to the big staircase in the middle of the lobby. Shaggy was close behind. “Leave it to Scooby-Doo,” he said. “The nose always knows.”

April 2014 978-1-907825-10-1 £7.99 1 year and upwards 250 x 250mm 24 toddler-friendly card pages & cover Anna McQuinn Ruth Hearson

Lulu’s baby brother Zeki is ready for his own adventure so he’s heading off to Baby Club. Everyone knows that babies and toddlers just love to see images of other babies like themselves. So this charming step-by-step look at a baby’s day out at a Rhyme Time or Bounce & Rhyme is sure to be a winner. Zeki and his friends (and their parents) sing familiar favourites and young readers will love to see their everyday world in a story. There are web links so children can watch and sing along with real babies and toddlers as they sing the songs from the book.

About the author & illustrator ANNA MCQUINN has been devouring books ever since she was a little girl. She is now the author of more than twenty books for children and has worked as an editor, publisher and writer for over 20 years. When Anna is not writing or working in a library running parent & toddler groups, her nose is in a good book. This is her first story featuring Lulu’s baby brother, Zeki. RUTH HEARSON completed a BA in Visual Communication: Illustration at The University of Central England in Birmingham in 1996. Following her First Class award, she was funded by the EBF to continue with her studies to complete a Masters degree. Since 1998, Ruth has worked as a freelance illustrator mostly in children’s publishing working for publishers such as Little Tiger Press, Oxford University Press and Heinemann. Taking time out to concentrate on being Mum to her two children, Ruth has enjoyed working for a range of Community Arts projects with adults, children and adults with learning disabilities. In recent times, Ruth has returned to illustration, working on projects for Day One Publications and Alanna Books.

The roots of reading, along with matters of love and life, are happily married in this bright, uplifting, outstanding and important offering.” School Library Journal

Author ANNA MCQUINN divides her time between writing and working directly with children as a Community Librarian. She has written over 30 books for children and this is one of three stories about Lulu.
