Dear Parishioners, This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the Last Day of the Christmas season. As we do so, it is an opportunity to consider the meaning of our own Baptism. Certainly we believe that Baptism removes from our souls original sin, and makes us children of God. It also makes us members of the Church. By joining the Church we are not simply members of a club. Being Catholic Christians gives us responsibilities that go beyond attending Mass and having the right to receive Holy Communion. After all, we receive Communion in order to be nourished so that we can share in the task of spreading the Gospel. We are baptized so that we can participate in the life of the Church. This means volunteering is some of the ministries that are taking place, such as, reading at Mass or helping to prepare the second Sunday breakfast. But all too often, we find that the same people are doing everything, and then what will eventually happen is that they will get burned out. Finally nothing will be getting done. So, I encourage everyone especially those not yet involved in the Church, to ask the Lord to show you the particular way that he wants you to serve your brothers and sisters. Sincerely yours, Father John

Breakfast will be prepared by the Boy Scouts This Sunday the 12th Immediately following the 8:00 am Mass
