PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND This weekend we support the Holy Father in his charitable works. The Peter’s Pence Collection is taken up worldwide to support the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters and others in need of emergency assistance. Pope Benedict XVI has said, “It is necessary above all that every person be motivated by the authentic spirit of peace.” (Homily 1-1-11) Cast the peace of Christ upon the world - please be generous in this weekend’s Collection. Use your preprinted envelope or a pew envelope.

OUTDOOR ROSARY IN MARKSVILLE Join St. Joseph Church in Marksville every Thursday evening at 8:15 pm to pray the Lighted Rosary on the grounds of the Church Hall. A large billboard -size rosary lights up in the night sky as each prayer on the rosary is prayed. Bring the family for a unique experience. (Note from Laura: Taking your own folding chairs is a good idea. This is a very nice experience.)

CATHEDRAL OBSERVANCE OF DAY OF PRAY FOR SANCTIFICATION OF PRIESTS St. Francis Xavier Cathedral will host a Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests on Friday, July 1. Holy Hour will be from 11:00 am to noon, followed by Mass at 12:05 pm celebrated by Father Scott Chemino. The dinner benefits the seminarians from the Diocese of Alexandria. Reservation forms are available in the vestibule.
