01. kiori Kiori is an interactive robot who was designed for kids that are hospitalized at Sant Joan de DĂŠu Hospital of Barcelona one of the most important children's hospitals in Europe. This project was realized as a final degree project and was developed in collaboration with the Hospital and Elisava School of Design and Engineering. The aim of this project was to develop an interactive robotic pet able to suit all the areas of the hospital and likewise be capable to collect data and control the patient and thereby improve the quality of life of the 254,000 children that admit each year the hospital of Sant Joan de Deu.

02. keepcup Keepcup is a new concept of coffee machine. The aim of this project was to develop a new capsule machine. I took as reference the Australian brand, KeepCup.

11

mar moreno - portfolio

keep cup

The goal was always to kick start behaviour change, from discard to reuse. KeepCup has grown from a solution to a problem, to define a product category. Today, KeepCups are used in more than 65 countries around the world. KeepCup users divert millions of disposable cups from landfill every day, and through their actions inspire others to do the same.

In 2009 the brand KeepCup created the world’s first barista standard reusable coffee cup. Their mission was to encourage the use of reusable cups. The principal characteristic of this cup is the use of bright colours in all the designs. Taking into account the characteristics of this brand, I developed a coffee machine inspired by the mugs. Soft shapes, bright colours, recyclable materials, to sump up an eco-friendly product. Also, the idea was to allow the user to design himself his or her coffee machine. Choosing the colours of the different components of the machine in order to make a unique and original design.

03. bicing Bicing is a bicycle sharing system of Barcelona. The aim of this project was to design a safe and comfortable

14

mar moreno - portfolio

bicing Bicing is a bicycle sharing system of Barcelona. In order to use it, you must acquire a yearly membership. Users pay an annual fee and they have the right to use it during 30 min.

Nowadays, the bicycle used does not have a suitable system to carry user’s items in a safe way. The aim of this project was to design a safe and comfortable basket able to fit the user’s needs. However, apart from designing a friendly basket for the users a second goal was to design an adaptable basket so as to maintain the current bicycle design, without any change. Moreover, Barcelona is a very well known city, becauseof its architecture, design and culture. That is the reason why a third important goal was to design a basket according to the city of Barcelona.

DESIGN OF THE BASKET This connection with the city of Barcelona is achieved through the flowes pattern. Inspired by the floor tiles, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. These tiles are named in Catalan “El Panot de flor” which means: "The Flower of Barcelona" is very common to find them in most of the streets of Barcelona.

DESIGN OF THE logotype Designing the logo was also part of the project. Using the image of a kangaroo is because the resemble of the basket and the marsupial pouch moreover it fulfils a similar function, protects and transports. The name is because the offspring of the Marsupilami is called Joey. And the flower is the way to incorporate Barcelona joining the two elements of inspiration.

storytiles I started my role as a Designer at StoryTiles in July 2017. StoryTiles is an Amsterdam based brand. All products are artisanally crafted and produced in the Netherlands. The company was founded in 2013. Every design features humorous details, in which classic concepts contrast with modern elements. During my time with StoryTiles I had the opportunity to work with clients as : The Van Gogh Museum, Natural History Museum of London, Miffy, Fabeltjeskrant Uil, Ouwehands Dierenpark, Breepark, Loods 6; among other projects. STORY TILES MODERN COLLECTION A MOMENT OF SILENCE

OLD DUTCH TILES At the beginning of the seventeenth century that the Dutch tile industry started to florish and rapidly became the largest production area of the world. The growth of the industry was the direct effect of the period known as the Dutch Golden Age. The Dutch Delft tiles, were at first created as wall tiles on the inside of fireplaces. Wall tiles could handle the heat and were easy to clean. Nowadays, these tiles are true collectibles with many enthusiastic collectors all over the world.
