Munchkin Camps

Day Camps

FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING GRADES PK – SK Note: Campers must be 3 years of age by June 1, 2017 and fully potty trained. This unique experience for our youngest campers will be filled with many of the same fun activities as the big day camp but scheduled at their own pace. Munchkins learn through art, music, free-play, and storytelling. Campers will enjoy water play but will not go swimming. Each week has a different theme and special activity on Friday. Offered weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10 Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 a.m. – noon Cost: $150 each week (Early-bird Special: $135 before May 1, 2017)

FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 1ST – 5TH Every day is loaded with fun adventures from exploring nature, creating tasty treats, playing field games, cooling off with water play, and splashing in the pool. Whatever the activity, campers will delight in discovering new and exciting experiences and making new friends. Each camper belongs to a core group assigned by grade level that travels to activities with songs and smiles along the way. Snacks are provided, but campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day. Students are transported by bus daily to the swimming pool where certified lifeguards ensure safety. Our trained activities leaders keep campers smiling with new projects. Campers will remember their group leaders for years to come. Each week of camp has a different theme and special activity on Friday. Offered weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10 Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Cost: $200 each week (Early-bird Special: $185 before May 1, 2017)

Half Day Camp FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 1ST –5TH This summer we are excited to offer a half-day camp option. Campers will join our core groups of full day campers for the morning or afternoon and participate in all the fun activities offered in these fun filled weeks. Campers will make crafts, go swimming, play games, cook a tasty treat, and much more as we celebrate a different theme each week. Offered weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10 Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 a.m. to noon or noon – 3:00 p.m. Cost: $100 each week

Make Your Own Schedule FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 1ST–5TH FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING PK – SK Can’t be with us for the entire week? St. Mary’s is glad to have your child spend the day with us at camp. Campers will join in with our existing camps for a day of fun at the pool, making crafts, playing games and everything else that our campers get to experience during the week. Space is limited and registrations must take place at least three camp days before attending. Contact the Pursuits office at 537-1415 for details. Cost: $50 per day | 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

EXTRA CARE OPTIONS

EARLY CARE 7:30 A.M. – 9:00 A.M., $25 PER WEEK.

St. Mary’s offers a variety of options for parents in need of extended day or before & after care during select summer programs at an additional cost. Registration is required for all extended day, before, and after care options.

FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING GRADES SK –5TH Spells, Wands, and Potions! We will spend the week in Hogwarts with Harry Potter and the gang as we explore science and engineering. We will design our own wands, create our own monster book of magical potion experiments, and learn all about the secrets of Hogwarts. It will be a magical adventure you don’t want to miss! Once Upon A Time Camp FOR GIRLS ENTERING PK – SK Since every girl is a princess and every princess loves a party, let’s spend a week together celebrating the princess in all of us. Princess party adventures will include dress up days, jewlery making, castle creations, and of course royal snacks. We will also spend part of our week getting ready for the Royal Ball on Friday. During this class students will enjoy a fun week of Pinterest-inspired make and take activities. Together we will choose pins from the Summer at St. Mary’s Pinterest page to bring to life. Explore American Girl Doll FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES SK–5TH Grab your doll and let’s have some fun! Join us for an exciting week of history, cooking, and crafting. Each day we will talk about a different doll and the historical events of her story. You don’t want to miss learning about historical dolls like Julie and the 1970’s, and doll of the year, Lea, who explores Brazil! Each day will be packed with new adventures as you relive history as an American Girl! Spa Camp– Pampering Your Senses FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 1ST – 5TH Mix it, make it, try it out and take it home. This hands-on ALL GIRLS camp uses spa activities to showcase Science and Art. Girls will be making Fizzy Bath Bombs, Sweet Lip Smackers and Yummy Face Masks to name a few. They’ll become clever spa scientists for the week as they learn about ingredients and how to combine them to make fun and fabulous pampering goodies. Each day will also include a daily spa craft. Girls will experiment with packaging and naming their concoctions in this spa-chemistry exploration – the end of the week is “Spa Pajama Day,” where girls will sample and share what they have made while wearing their favorite comfy pjs! Jedi Training FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING GRADES JK – 2ND A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… kids had no LEGO’s. Fortunately for us, that is not the case this summer! We will blast off into deep space for more fun than you can imagine. Young Jedis will start each day training and exercising with their minds and bodies. We will build starships, make lightsabers, and play galactic games. Young Jedis….may the force be with you. FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING GRADES 1ST – 5TH Come join us as we recreate Anakin’s Workshop! Campers will tinker away and use robotic LEGOs to build fantastic Star Wars creations! Soar through the galaxy with us as we build super spaceships and robots based on the Star Wars movies. Students will grow their knowledge of space, robotics, and coding. We’ll be waiting for you... FOR GIRLS AND BOYS ENTERING PK – SK Beginning paleontologists learn about dinosaurs and the techniques used in extracting fossils in this hands-on class. Go on your own fossil dig, analyze and assemble skeleton pieces, produce a fossil reconstruction, create a mural, use iPads to learn more about dinosaurs, and take home lots of cool dinosaur daily projects! The Hughes Learning Center is pleased to offer reading screenings performed by Dr. Rene Lee, former head of the Bodine School. A reading screening will aid in determining a child’s risk for reading difficulties and help identify areas of strengths and weaknesses. Parents will receive an informal written observation with recommendations for intervention strategies within two weeks of the screening. For independent writers, coaches review the steps of the writing process, sentence mechanics, and emphasize higher order writing skills. Counselors In-Training (CIT) Program

FOR ST. MARY’S GIRLS ONLY ENTERING GRADES 8TH – 12TH Sign up for weekly internship experiences this summer. Students will work alongside Pursuits staff developing leadership skills and building a resume. Duties will include assisting with classes, setting up and leading daily camp activities, organizing special events, documenting programs on social media, as well as assisting teachers with young students. BBM Camp (Building a Better Memphis) FOR GIRLS ENTERING GRADES 3RD – 5TH Kids CAN make a difference and it’s never too early to hear this message. In this camp, girls learn about issues that affect our beloved city and participate in meaningful, hands-on service to our community partners. We will, in an age-appropriate manner, examine issues of homelessness, food insecurity, animal rescue, and our environment. Campers will begin each day learning and discussing a specific issue, followed by a field trip to an organization that works with those affected by it. Students will participate in a service project each day, and have time to debrief with teachers afterward. This camp is guaranteed to change the way your child looks at the world and inspire her to make a difference in her community. To register online, please go to www.stmarysschool.org/pursuits. When you click “register”, you will be directed to our online registration system Ultra Camp. If you haven’t done so before, please create a complete profile for you and your camper. You can register for camps, as well as make payments through this site. You may also contact Kacie O’Kelley (Pursuits Business Manager) at kokelley@stmarysschool.org or 901-537-1415 for any registration or payment questions.

Students need to be picked up promptly at the end of camp. Parents will be charged a fee of $2 per minute for the first 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, a late fee of $5 per minute will be charged. All late fees must be paid at the time of pick-up.

A $50 deposit per-camp is required for registration. *The $50 per-camp deposit is applied toward the total camp fee; it is not an additional fee. The deposit reserves a space for your child, and the remaining balance is due by the start date of the camp. All deposits are non-refundable. The Summer Pursuits program accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as checks and cash. St. Mary’s camps will not be prorated for any reason. Campers must be at least 3 years of age by June 1, 2017 and fully potty trained in order to attend summer programs.
